Transfers January Transfer Thread 2024

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Nah...I'm not having it mate. Excuses for dragging out transfers and missing our targets and leaving the manager short are trademarks of the chump running our football club.....even if, as I fully expect, we finally get this Romanian lad over the line.

Our manager was left heniously short in the summer and made it absolutely clear that he expected support as soon as the window opened..

IF this kid was the target, the fee, the package, the deal should have been agreed and sorted ready to sign as soon as the window opened......it's not even a top draw signing FFS, it's a kid with potential at the low end of the market and we're seemingly making a pigs arse even of this.

Any other big 6 club would have been ruthless and had him training with squad already.

But will he be third choice, this is about quality and depth with players not resting on their laurels.
Can only be a good thing.

I imagine Ange thrives on that competitive environment but let's be real. Romero and van de Ven our first choice. They're one of the best partnerships in the league.

Dragusin will provide great back up. Better than we've had in years and hopefully he'll be able to seamlessly fill in when one of Romero/Van de Ven is injured/suspended or need rotation.

Van de Ven is 22 and had two hamstring injuries already. With the way we play and the amount of sprints he makes. I do worry for him.

Sure, I get that people would want us to push for him but fuck that. If the deal was agreed and him and his agent want to play us off against Bayern, I don't want the cunt here.
I get your point, but I respectfully disagree, my man.

Regardless of who was in for him first, us or Bayern...obviously anyone would listen to Bayern when they come calling, same as we'd all listen to the big entities in our respective lines of work. That's his career, he's entitled to his decision.

That notion of him & his agent being a bit mercenary-like and using us to get more out of ze germanz may well be true, but could also just be regular practice, especially in football...but once again, lots of us would do something along those lines to get more money out of our current employer. Doesn't mean you don't love the outfit anymore, you're just looking out for No 1.

I don't know the lad, I don't know what's in his head, what his agent is telling him...perhaps he really wants to join us over them (which would be such a statement win for us/Ange). Personally I don't have that much of an issue with him trying to get us to match/exceed whatever Bayern's offering, he's human. And I don't believe that means he's using us, disrespecting us, that he's a money-whore etc.

Clubs act exactly the same by the way. Whatever they gotta do to save a few bucks, they'll do. A few reporters have, for instance, alluded to the fact that Spurs love to agree personal terms with a player first so they can use that to drive the price down with his club.

Aren't there other Midfielders beside Gallagher that can do it. Hate saving Chelsea from FFP. That kid from the Championship? (Wharton or whatever his name was)

Perhaps he’s ambitious enough and confident enough to think that he can ultimately overtake them to start games for them though, maybe even this season?

Upamecano is exceptionally overrated and De Ligt hasn’t exactly pulled up trees since he’s gone to Bayern either.

Yep. I like that dichotomy -

- When we try to sign a player, for example striker when Kane was starting, and people questioning that maybe not many attackers want to mainly wait behind Kane: "Oh, fuck that. Footballers must have confidence. They have to be mentally strong and believe in themselves to overtake even the best footballers + there is always rotation!"
- When someone we are interested in, picks some other club where there is competition : "Fuck him, good luck to him rotting on the bench and never getting a game there!"

Can't write that shit, can ya :D

:troll:

Come on mate. Have a holiday.

I'm not even sure I want this player I've never seen before and spent the whole window banging on about not having a 3rd CB in the summer...

but even despite all that, getting a forward and a CB done before Jan 10th, with competition for both from Man UTD and Bayern Munich? Have to give that the credit it deserves.

Fair fucking fucks to the club on this. It's a huge win in the transfer market and an even bigger PR win.
