It quite possibly is the result of Spurs asking about him when Kane went to Bayern - he knows we have had a long term interest (unlike johnny come lately ManU) so know there's a genuine desire for him.

If it doesn't work out for him at Spurs he goes back to Bayern with probably no less games played at Spurs than he would have played at Bayern.

But 'nothing ventured so nothing gained' - it might work out enough to stay permanently. Lets see in June
