I watched a lot of Bayern games last year, I would imagine most of his appearances are from the bench. I was always impressed when he came on. I would say that the reputational gain of Abu Dhabi and Qatar by being associated with City and PSG has been huge.
As a consequence they are seen as much more modern countries and places to do business than Saudi or other places in the region. They have also done this at a moderate price, maybe a billion or 2, since City and PSG are now largely self funding.
Its not the local audience they want. They are trying to build a tourism industry and attract foreign investment. So European, Asian and North American eyes is who they are after.
