Match K league 11 vs Tottenham Hotspur. Wed 31st July 12pm

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Most excited about watching the Korean kid tbh.

Would like to see more integration of the kids with the seniors rather than wholesale changers at HT.

Something like:

Vic
Porro - Drag - Davies - Spence
Gray
Sarr - Madders
Moore - Richy - Son

Can't wait for people to completely go overboard if the 18 year old Korean barely gets a sniff against Premier League level opposition in a friendly.

I'm not expert on how quickly players lose their match fitness, but will those Euro and Copa players really have lost that much match fitness? They've just been out with their national teams playing and training, and they've had what, 2-3 weeks off?

Granted they've not done any training in that time, but will they really be that far behind the rest of the squad who didn't go to these tournaments?

PL ended mid May with players having 2 weeks to relax before joining their Euro/Copa squads. for some 10 days or 2 weeks training before the Euros/Copa matches started.

Most of the international sides play at a slower pace to the PL, and additionally many of the sides have players who are not PL class - so most games are not as challenging for the players in terms of fitness levels required nor the split second reactions PL demands. Not true of all sides of course, any side playing Spain for example will have needed to raise their game, but they are the exceptions not the norm. So whilst playing at Euros/Copa players may not be playing with same level of fitness that is required to play PL - its generally not required at international level.

Players then have 3 weeks off to totally relax their bodies - ideal time for bodies to recover from any niggling minor strains etc.

I suspect most of the players will report back to their clubs with a good base level of fitness - fortunately we no longer have an overweight Ndombele waddling in after eating too many takeaways over the summer - but that will be some way off the level of fitness they had back in mid May at end of PL. so that probably means that 90 mins in hot sun may not be wise and they may not have that split second timing necessary to make that pass/tackle/score etc.

Preseason used to be a minimum of 6 weeks to get players back up to PL level speed, whereas Romero, Ven de Venn and Bentancur will report back in time for the Bayern match on 10th August before PL kicks off a week later. So wouldn't surprise me if in the first 2/3/4 games of the season those players are not looking quite as good as the end of last PL season.

The good news is the first 3 games of the season are a week apart, so ideal to rebuild fitness/timing between those matches.

It's not at all. You can focus on the whole as well the separate elements that go up to make it.

Looking forward to today's game! COYS.
when you put the two words together its an oxymoron because they conflict with each other

taking an holistic view and focusing are two separate activities with diametrically opposite purposes

oxymoron
/ˌɒksɪˈmɔːrɒn/
noun

  1. a figure of speech in which apparently contradictory terms appear in conjunction (e.g. faith unfaithful kept him falsely true ).
"that fashionable rhetorical novelty, the humblebrag, is itself an oxymoron"
You're welcome.

Apparently Donley has been training at left back all the time. He definitely has the skill set to play as inverted full back. I guess it would take a while to learn defensively.

Some say TAA has no defensive skills despite playing as an inverted RB for Liverpool for about 5 years now ......

Donley has always played as a full hearted player in any position he plays, so expect him to do the very best he can as LB - and Matt Wells (assistant chief coach) who trains the defensive unit has been giving Jamie personal tuition on playing as a LB.
