Match K league 11 vs Tottenham Hotspur. Wed 31st July 12pm

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Wonder how fans feel about loans next year. Should any of Donley, Lankshear or Moore going on loan or staying around the first team squad?

Former 2 need loans, Moore not ready to go out yet.

Side note, I hope that fans get used to the fact that maybe around 20% of this you crop will make it at Spurs to be consistent first teamers and I'm being generous there.

Feels good having young players come up through the ranks but it's just not realistic to expect them all to become regular first teamers.

If its a similar level of injuries to last season, in the short term the solution has to be t use more u21's in the first team squad. In the long term possibly increase squad sizes from 25 ........ which would be a problem for many clubs, especially those european clubs claiming they are broke

Was hearing "tired" excuses for England in the Euros again...... Yet as soon as we manufactured a so-called winter break; it almost immediately got filled up again.

Meanwhile; Nations League was meant to replace friendlies; yet we're getting both instead.

FIFA & UEFA expanding their club and int. competitions.

It's quite clear that the domestic game is expected to bear the brunt; but to what ends.......... Any measure stands to create a financial hit that only the richest clubs can afford to take.

I didn’t watch the game but I heard we were vulnerable on the break and east to play through.

Was it anything to worry about or just due to the lineup we had and players still getting fit?

Never said 1st team regulars but some sub appearances now and again. Moore is definitely getting some game time next year m why not Lankshear and Donley ?

In Ange ball the CB's are usually well forward when we are attacking.

So the no 6 needs to become more a part of a defensive 3 if we lose the ball high up - although this was not seen much last season, possibly because personnel were not disciplined enough to play it.
Inverted fullbacks leaves us open on the flanks, centrebacks have to cover the flanks, therefore need a beast of a defensive midfielder to help, out the centrebacks.

ill pay for your spursplay sub if you come in after games with that detailed analysis and screenshots after games hahah. this forum needs stuff like that, too many numpties talking shit.
Don't worry mate, Spurs play cuts out way too much for me to bother with it, I'll just stick with the dodgy streams for now ;)

Glad to know the analysis is appreciated though.

We dont actually know enough to be so definitive. Has done just fine defensively, but hasnt been tested at an elite level just yet. He has the skills to do the top 3rd of the pitch stuff, but i cant imagine he is anywhere near ready to defend in the prem
This is probably right. Getting a bit too positive on him based on his attacking play. Could be a good option though against sides who sit back. Udogie's big skill is his defending anway.

I also reckon Donley could be useful this year as a pure midfielder. That's sort of where he's playing anyway and he has a great understanding of when to run in behind (timing of runs etc), no reason he can't make them from midfield.

The answer is yes to both. Even if it is second line players getting fit, it is still the system Spurs play and that system is vulnerable. In fairness, though, it is much less so with van de ven and Romero in (neither of whom played). It's also worth noting the Korean all stars are already several games into their league's regular season.

I wouldn’t look into friendlies mate.

However, just lol if anyone thinks our tactics will significantly change compared to last season when we basically have the same team, with one addition.

Even if we bring in more players, the principles will stay the same, high line, inverted fullbacks, play from the back, etc.
This is my point.

I'm not an idiot, I know it was just a friendly and you can't go overboard on them.

But equally I'd be a lot less concerned if we hadn't seen that situation week in week out last season.

If you watched this half-baked Korean side with no training have a free run through our midfield, score 3 goals in 10 minutes, and you didn't get flashbacks of Wolves, West Ham, Fulham, Brighton, I envy your levels of delusion.

And it's not just a question of personnel; it's a question of team structure, rest defence, tactics, and ultimately the manager. You can replace Skipp with Rodri in that midfield and it doesn't change the fact that our DM had a square 40 yards to cover by himself in the middle of the pitch.

I do worry that Gray isn't suited to our 6 role. Whoever plays that role needs to be good receiving the ball on the turn amd not sure Gray is brilliant at that
Yeah, not sure Gray will be taking Bissoumas spot anytime soon based on that performance.
Agree. Defensively I thought he was solid - strong in the challenge and good positionally, knew not to stray too far from his position protecting the back four - but on the ball he was really loose. Some proper heavy touches and suicide passes that put us in trouble. Unforgivable in this system. Willing to chalk this one up to being young and nervous and give him another shot but it wasn't encouraging.
Poor match from Johnson.
Day ending in a "y"?

To what extent is Donley being out of position a result of the manager telling him he needs to position himself in the number #10 position when we have the ball?
Certainly it is, and then it’s the manager’s responsibility to direct covering players to help out and create some semblance of shape at the back. Not sure whether that’s shifting our back three to cover both sides or having a midfielder hustle back to create a back four again. Hopefully Ange is addressing it.

There's a reason the great managers of the game set up in a 3-2-5 in possession and not this 2-1-7 pub football nonsense.

I'm not expert on how quickly players lose their match fitness, but will those Euro and Copa players really have lost that much match fitness? They've just been out with their national teams playing and training, and they've had what, 2-3 weeks off?

Granted they've not done any training in that time, but will they really be that far behind the rest of the squad who didn't go to these tournaments?
Not fitness, it's rythm...and to a point timing

Depends who you speak to lol. I would think that even if we're playing players out of position and giving them a rare chance, the supposed new adapted tactics to deal with these situations should be noticeable at least a couple of times a game....which it wasn't....
