Player Kevin Danso

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

If we have a good season we will be playing 60 games - but no player is going to play more than say 40 games and that's without any significant injuries.

So having 3 top CB's in Romero, Van de Ven and Danso is essential - and even with the 3 of them we will need extra cover whether that's from Dragusin, youngster Byfield or playing midfielders Palhina or Gray in drfence,

Really glad we acquired Danso, strong no nonsense defender able to play with either Romero and Van de Ven as required, the only area he's not quite as good as the other two is his passing out from the back, but that can be overcome if he gets the ball to a CM.

I like him. Enjoy watching him play. Doesn’t fuck about.

Would be very keen in seeing us move to 3 at the back with him, VDV and Romero, with Palhinha ahead of them.

We’ll have very good depth at centre back next season, I’d like to see if we can play this way before we make major decisions in the summer.

Fantastic player.

Already my favourite player - he's immense.
Me back in Feb ☝️

Loved him at Lens, was made up with his signing. Very happy to see him grab his chance with both hands, big fan of his partnership with Micky...sure wouldn't mind if we kept playing them both even when the other guy is fit again.

And according to the commentators, "Danso has got a very long one". Lucky boy.
I heard something similar on the commentary too: "He's got great length!"

Romero's obviously way better on the ball and more important to how we play as a team but I actually think Danso's a better meat-and-potatoes penalty box defender. He was just what we needed today against another set-piece team full of units and I actually think we would've been more like to concede if Romero had started.

Not saying Danso should be starting ahead of Romero but it's great that we have an option who is such a good pure defender.

Danso is very solid when we need him. Seems to be happy with his current role. He will for sure play at least ~30-35 games no matter what this season, so we dont need to make any adjustements in our defence just to accomodate all our 3cbs in starting lineup - unless its tactical decision to go with back 5 or VdV od absolutely needed as LB.

He is a proper box defender. Stopper. Makes vey few errors and he doesn’t overcomplicate things.

Can’t ask for much more from a 3rd CB tbh. If he was better on the ball then he’d be starting for someone else.

the probelm i have with him is his side wards passing, he moves forward with the ball, stop when he is parellel with porro then has to turn so he can pass to porro, so porro is recieving to ball straight so needs to push the ball forward before he can pass it on
If danso passed it earlier so Porro recieves the ball just in front of him at an angle it gives porro more options on his next pass

He is going to be more suitable for certain games. Probably not against Chelsea, Liverpool, Man Utd. But against your long ball/throw cloggers like the Arse, Everton, Brentford then bung him in. The fact he gave zero free kicks away when he was challenging all game at a venue where the Home fans were baying for every decision meant he was squeeky clean as well as forceful.
