Player Kevin Danso

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Thought Danso had a solid game all round. He seems to quietly go about his work when he's called on. Just hope he's happy with the cameo appearances as he's a great option when we (inevitably) lose one of the main pair through injury or suspension.

It might be just me watching games and be totally wrong. Although Danso isn’t the greatest passer there is something just more reliable about him than Romero or VDV or any of our other defenders, he is just pure reliability. You mostly feel calm when he is defending.

He's an out and out pro. We arguably need more guys like him as squad players throughout the team. Seasoned no nonsense guys that will help instill good habits in the younger squad members.

I think what's most impressive is he isn't getting a run of games to develop a rhythm. He is like Ben Davis great character fully committed to making the best of any situation.

That's all of us. In today's game, with 'ball playing centre-backs' and those that are gaff prone with over intricate playing out from the back, this guy just is no-nonsense, not an absolute donkey, and knows when to defend and when to play. It's pretty simple. Players like him are sniffed at because they don't have what someone like Schlotterbeck or Romero have in their game, those incisive passes forward and good technique.

Danso is decent cover, a third CB option and a great late sub on to protect a lead (if there is a lead to be protected). He’s had some good games as I’ve remarked before. Did well last night against a mostly toothless Dortmund attack (10 men including Fabio Silva). He’s still awful at playing out from the back — same pass pinning Porro to his line no more than 10 yards up the pitch.

Anyone who thinks he should start over Romero should give up criticizing the team and coaching staff.
