Apparently he’ll be okay for Belgium. His thigh was heavily strapped. Not sure how bad it is.
Somewhere there’ll be a post where I said KT and Ben D taking the corners please. His crossing has always been good - and you can see the forwards running forward when he gets the ball as they know one of them will receive an inch perfect cross - but as England don't seem to have any 'specialist' set piece takers, Trippier has been taking most of the free kicks and corners. And its that which has almost taken him up another level as his delivery has been great.
I think he's created about 10 chances in the first 2 games which is phenomenally good going, and England have looked more dangerous from set pieces since Beckham.
Eriksen has been Spurs set piece expert, and done well, but I'd certainly like to see him share some of those with Trippier, if only to have a more varied delivery
Ben has taken a few towards the end of the season so now we only need KTSomewhere there’ll be a post where I said KT and Ben D taking the corners please.
And yes it also gives Eriksen the chance to bang a clearance back on the volley
He’s taken direct free kicks for his previous clubs and scored apparently. He gets good side spin with his instep. Trick is to get topspin too for up and over the wall. He’s a model pro so I imagine he’d be practising in the dark.Trippier for corners and for indirect free kicks, the Dane for the shots on goal

I'm usually not a fan of the 3 at the back backline but considering how Trips is delivering here maybe we should play it more often and utilize Trips and Ben in a similar fashion.Southgate has to take a lot of credit for Trippier’s emergence on the world scene. Moving Walker to RCB in a 3 in order to accommodate Trippier was a decision that had me wondering at first but on the performances so far, it’s totally vindicated. He has looked solid & has been putting in really high quality performances going forward.
Southgate was a baffling choice as manager, but he is showing himself to a pretty good choice. He was always a likeable character, but he has got this England team performing very well. Much better than I’d ever expected him too. Let’s see how he sets us up against the Belgians who are several steps up in quality.

3 at the back gives us width and a good shape, that’s for sure. Trippier has genuinely gone up several gears in these two games. It’s still early to say because the opposition hasn’t been top drawer. But the signs are massively encouraging.I'm usually not a fan of the 3 at the back backline but considering how Trips is delivering here maybe we should play it more often and utilize Trips and Ben in a similar fashion.
It's interesting because he is playing as a wingback but not like your traditional bombing one (Danny Rose style). He still hangs back a bit and acts more in a supporting role and by god it is paying off
the downside to 3 at the back is that it tends to either choke our wide attacking players like Son due to having a wingback bomb up into his space, or take him out of the game completely in favour of the 3rd CB.3 at the back gives us width and a good shape, that’s for sure. The England job isn't the draw it once was, they can't attract the very top managers (hence appointing Fat Sam). Agree that Southgate has done well. Seems a pretty decent bloke too.Southgate was a baffling choice as manager, but he is showing himself to a pretty good choice.
Gibbs called it years ago.....laughed off the forum for it too
Guido, please explain
Gibbs wanted our full backs to be played as wingers, not as wing backs.
Tictacs Timmy actually played it one time. Away at Swans (and winning), he brought on Naughton at RB and moved Walker up to RM. it worked well.Gibbs called it years ago.....laughed off the forum for it too
Couldn’t understand why the man in the Gilet didn’t play it more often.
