There's no upside to a championship loan though. That's not going to catch anyone's eye for a soon-to-be 23 year old on PL squad player wages.
The championship's a tough old place, you need to be up to it physically to survive. The trouble with KWP is that he hasn't proven he's up to it physically at any level really. Very poor of us to have allowed a player to reach 22 without it being shown he can meet the physical demands of professional football. If you can survive a year in the Championship, you acquire some value.
Agree with NW1.
IMO a champ loan was a better option.
We got £8m for Pritchard in 2016 on the strength of being excellent in the champ.

3.5 years left on KWP contract, so after a 6 month loan will be 3 years left on contract.

Either return to Spurs after getting a decent run of games if he impresses, or potential sale to Southampton or other PL club.

Risk free strategy for Spurs.

And invaluable game time in PL for KWP

Plenty of RB Cover for Spurs includes Aurier, Tanganga, Foyth - plus Dier who played for almost a season at RB for Spurs - plus academy youngsters (either specialist RB Hinds or centre backs/RB such as Eyoma).

Not sure what Saltman has against this post ?

And unless he's properly shit for the Saints, this will only increase his value.

We really need to put more youth talent out on loan and thankfully we appear to be doing this now.

And we all know he's very capable and just needs minutes to show that. Now's his chance and he can earn himself a proper permanent transfer in the summer if he shows what he's all about.

If they finish above us however I'll be livid with the decision :pochcry:

People like KWP would benefit from playing a couple seasons in the champiknsip and racking up 100 games.
He should have been out on loan much earlier tbf. It isn't too late for him yet but he has a lot of ground to make up.

Skipp and Parrott are probably going to get loans in the summer at the latest, which is great for their development.

Poch's "keep the kids close" philosophy probably hampered a fair few youth players.

I know I know he has been around longer than anyone can recall. That for every genuinely good thing he does he did three wrong. But I have an utterly irrational feeling that if he starts six months back to back game time. We might all be proved wrong. Some footballers need games to grow the core physical parts of their games and just as important the psychological bits. Going to watch him closely and pleased it's under Rabbit-hutch who has impressed me.
