Should Spurs have one captain or a 'Leadership Group'

Ready to cut you down
Watching today's debacle has prompted me to ask this question.

3 of the 4 individual mistakes that gifted Wolves the 3 points came from members of the so called 'leadership group'.

In the last game a member of the 'leadership group' handed the ball to a loan player, after a penalty decision, despite Brennan being on a hattrick.

Are the leadership group leading Spurs up and down the garden path?

Please discuss and while you are considering your reply please try to visualise James Maddison's attempted free kick at Molineux.

I suspect our problems go deeper whilst simultaneously being more fundamental than the question of how well / badly our « leadership « group is doing its job .

They should let that young mascot who was warming up before the match in the Autumn take charge of the « leadership « group and if child-protection rules allow ; let him manage the team until the end of the season. He’d make a positive difference in my opinion.

Yes , we should only have one captain and:

a) it shouldn’t be Son because he’s not a leader and shouldn't be a starter anymore.

b) it shouldn’t be Romero because he’d clearly rather be somewhere - anywhere - else.

c) it shouldn’t be Maddison because he’s a moany little twerp.

Agreed and…

D.) we don’t actually have a single suitable player to be a decent captain at this moment in time.

No one has only one captain and no other leaders. That’s just not how these things work.

But our group is a terrible selection of players. Son is not captain material, Romero could be if we were based in South America, Maddison is the furthest from captain material, and Vicario is a fake leader.

We should never have sold Højbjerg.

That was captain material, played for the shirt - fuck the haters.

I think at this point it’s largely irrelevant because the apathy stems from the top. There’s no drive to succeed or winning mentality in the board room and that trickles down through the whole club.
It appears there’s little or no consequence to the players performing badly so it doesn’t really matter who has the armband.

We need to get rid of Son, Romero, and Vic from the 'leadership group'- they are not good leadership material. We have some players that could be good leadership material though: Maddison, Solanke, Van de Ven, Danso, Kulusevski.

We really need a new coach to figure out what the future spine of the team will be. After that is figured out we can determine a captain and leadership based on who is most likely to feature regularly. I personally like the idea of Kulusevski as a captain, but if he isn't going to be first choice at either of his positions, it doesn't make sense to make him captain.

It's sad but it doesn't seem like the club- Levy mainly- is sophisticated enough to create and sustain a genuine culture of developing young talent and being competitive, like Dortmund are, for example. I'd like to see them embark on a genuine rebuild around Kulu as a 10 for example, but that would require identifying and hiring a great coach, keeping them happy, and sustaining a possibly rock first season while the rebuild occurs. Since I think that's beyond Levy, I recommend a more conservative strategy, playing obvious players in their obvious positions, such as Maddison at the 10.

That would give us some undisputed starters next season:

Dom
LW-Maddison-RW
Bergvall-CM
LB-VdV-Danso-RB
GK

Of these you get: Dom, Maddison, Bergvall, VdV, and Danso. There really isn't much of a choice for captain except Maddison or Solanke. We should go ahead and pick Maddison as captain, and make Solanke and VdV his VCs.
