Performance Let's Look at The League Table!

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

The point you were making is daft.
We're only 3 points off 3rd because we have had one of the easiest run of fixtures we've ever had at this stage of the season. We have battered a few really poor teams that make our GD look impressive.
But because we have played all those poor teams, it means we now have to play the good teams. And if we're not taking full advantage of our run of easy games, then how the hell you think we're gonna do against teams that can actually play?
Fair point and the results against Brighton, Palace, Ipswich were unacceptable but I never expected us to challenge for the title this season and expected an up and down campaign. Liverpool aside no one is tearing it up in the league. We will have to agree to disagree but I can't give up on the season/manager after 11 games into his second season and ignore what we are currently doing in the cup comps. Why would I? Cup exits, a league finish of 6th or lower at the end of the season and I'll be there calling for his head but just not right now!

Thanks for the advice fella! By the way its not obligatory to read any long winded opinion someone has!
Nearly didn’t, if you post it you surely want it read, just trying to help you reach your widest audience!

Deleted it after, as noticed you did actually have 2 paragraphs, but it appeared as one wall of text, not easy for older folks (or younger) with poorer vision.

Like your optimism, not sure it’s well placed but good for you anyway!

You need to advise Pep Guardiola on what he's doing wrong - ManCity have now lost 4 in a row despite having possibly the best squad in PL and/or europe

And most of the losses are against teams he should have won, or if not drawn. Like Spurs for example

That many losses in a row is worse than daft - its almost beyond belief given their wage bill and cost to assemble the squad. Can they turn it round ?
So fucking what?
Put Ange in that dressing room off the back of 4 defeats and he'd just carry on the streak.

That said, Pep is in a very difficult moment. All coaches have a shelf life in a job, even him. His best players are ageing or injured. Whether they can buy their way out of this blip is a big test for him.
He left Barcelona and Bayern when he knew his squad was finished and the money wasn't there to buy a new squad.

You know I've been here long enough to recognise even this pattern. The Monday morning apologist spate of opening brain dead threads as a coping mechanism. The let's distract with an utterly pointless examination of some bogus data thread. It's like an actual discernible event. Admin Admin needs to get wise and immediately bin them.

The simple point here is that you can't use the current league table as any evidence of positivity.
It's nonsense at this stage as we've barely played anyone of note and still find ourselves 10th.

This is torturous. Seriously it needs to be a law like Gowdins, using city as any kind of barometer is nonsensical. They are by dint of what they have done( sports doping on a globally unprecedented level)subject to almost entirely diffrent eco system.

Cites current on field issues are all about off the field stresses that are finally pulling them down. And I am fully here for it. Pep's contract, 115 charges for PSR breaches, threats of league wide suits against them by other clubs. The stripping of titles and criminal charges by the Inland revenue. It's not what's happening to Spurs or United. It's not comparable. Only the paid for media want to ignore why they after years of seamless victory have hit a wall.

I think up to a point (goals for/against) you can and the fact we are doing ok so far in the cup comps. These are the things I am drawing on, rightly or wrongly time will tell I was as frustrated (understatement) at the loses we have had as much as anyone but personally in the position we are in right now, right across the board, changing the hierachy or trying to find a positive from what is so far a poor league campaign. I'll chose the latter.

We haven't beaten a good team in the cups yet.
We very nearly went out of the league cup to Coventry. Who just sacked their manager.

This is now the fifth in-season international break in a row that Spurs have gone into on the back of a defeat. And they’re not just regular defeats either. There’s some absolute doozies in here, look.

Tottenham 1-2 Ipswich
Brighton 3-2 Tottenham – from 2-0 up, of course
Newcastle 2-1 Tottenham
Fulham 3-0 Tottenham
Wolves 2-1 Tottenham – with those Wolves goals coming in the 91st and 97th minutes

That is damning on everyone tbh. Manager and players. Pathetic.

If things/results carry on in the negative (prem defeats, cup exits) form then I've no doubt you will get your wish and see AP replaced before the end of the season and I'll be agreeing with you. But for the 20th time to all the negative responses to this thread, I can't see what good getting rid today would do us.

Need to look at the player in the international squads name names.

This is a misconception.

What I want is for him to turn it around and get us into the top 4 and win a cup.

I don't want him to drag us down and get the sack, have Masons mates for a half a dozen games, watch us fail to get a useful coach in for 3 months and keep Mason on, and then end up with ET fucking H in the summer.

We should have done something weeks ago when Amorim and Tuchel were viable.

After 11 games 9 teams have won 5 games.

That has to be some sort of Premier League first. Half the league are effectively 50/50 to win a match.

Paddy Power must be laughing his head off.

Im not sure 3rd has ever had as few points as they do this season after 11 games

23/24 - 3rd=24 points
22/23 - 3rd=23 points
21/22 - 3rd=23 points
20/21 - 3rd=22 points
19/20 - 3rd=23 points
18/19 - 3rd=27 points
17/18 - 3rd=23 points

i could go on....

Last 6 games form table

Liverpool 16 points way out in 1st.
Few others.

Bournemouth 10 points 2nd
Spurs 9 points 8th
West Ham 8 points 14th
Villa 6 points 16th.

That’s how messed up the league is.

Yup -

Its fucking wild and it is getting seriously competitive - not sure why but I'm sure it has something to do with the physical demand on modern footballers in a season after the euros, Olympics and not that far away from a mid-season world cup.
