Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Lost my Mum on Wednesday. Tuned into the game with the faint hope that the team would give me at least a small crumb of comfort to smile about, but it wasn't to be.

What I saw was a shambles in every department. I turned it off at 3-0.

I don't feel angry, I just feel nothing at the moment.

I don't think I'll be on here for a while, not even sure if I'll be back again all things considered.

Most people can probably TL / DR this.
Your post bought back memories.

So I feel your pain.

My mum passed away the year of our CL run.

Not going to dress it up any other way. That run was probably the most spiritual/ cathartic thing that’s happened to me.

At certain points watching Spurs I’d say a little prayer and miracles would happen in the months after her death. Even got to spend time with the coaching staff the day after we beat city at the etihad. Still blows my mind that happened. I remember wondering if she was there with me!

And it would have been truly poetic to have won that CL final for her.

But football has not really been the same for me since that night in Madrid. Covid the final step in me treating football very different.

I love the fact my first memories of going to spurs include my mum and sitting in the old Paxton on wooden seats with cigarette smoke all around us.
She loved going to Spurs and as i grew up I made sure to buy my mum and dad memberships and take them as much as possible. For a long time I didn’t actually stop her membership. Don’t know why. It seemed a bit too final if you get my drift.

So take your time. Grieve the way you see fit. These are the worst days for most people I think. Tearing up just thinking of her :(

And IMHO this place really isn’t too bad, there’s plenty of great people on here in my experience.

Liverpool were obviously favourites before the game. Didn't mind the team except for the changed back four. Even 1-0 down at half-time wasn't the end of the world.

Probably the fact that Richy got injured and we had no shots on target second half is the main problem. Ange was even jokingly calling himself a mug before the game and saying things like we're in all four competitions so must be doing something right...

We're in two competitions, likely to be one after the weekend but you never know. Can't watch the kids pissing about with it at the back and knowing what is coming next. Just a hard watch but a bit of a free hit.
God it seems like weve had a lot of free hits this season. People were saying cup semi final v liverpool was a free hit. Now villa in the cup is a free hit. Our expectations have dropped off a cliff

😂 I’m not putting ‘me’ into the equation here. You are…

I did allude to us watching fans/Joe public ‘sometimes’ spotting a bluffer and yes, to expand, Ange appears out of his depth and making it up as he goes along - i.e a bluffer.

None of us know what he says to the players, how or if he motivates and indeed all these persistent muscle injuries are down to his training methods because none of us (I take it) have access to the training ground or dressing room.

However, I’m hazarding a guess that you are a seasoned football watcher. I am. How do you rate our team’s set up (not just last night but over 18 months)? Is it a coincidence that we seem to concede the same type of goals every week? How do you rate Ange’s in game management? The Everton 3 at the back gamble and last nights attempt at a low block - all part of Plan B or Plan C (meticulously drilled on the training pitch)? Or just a punt?
I don't get asked to attend training sessions, so I can't comment on things I know bugger all about ( unlike the majority on here, most of who veer between paranoia, insanity and stupidity in their imaginations) but I see people lambasting the guy for his lack of tactical flexibility - and then cane him when he opts for formations and tactics that vary from his preferred approach. When the subject of the missing players is offered as a reason for the paucity of our results, the injury list is then levelled as another factor to hang him for, as apparently his training methods and formation choices are to blame for the injuries.
Let's ignore the fact that the club employ physical training coaches who are there to specifically tone and tune these athletes bodies to meet the rigours of their profession. But hey, why let facts get in the way of compiling evidence against the accused?
We've employed two trophy winnings specialists recently - neither of who, did much better than him, or had an injury list on par with the North Korean army sick parade in The Ukraine to deal with.

Our club does two things that are massively detrimental to our clubs success

1. Change managers far too often to establish a winning formula and a settled team and footballing identity.
2. Pay Daniel Levy to run Tottenham Hotspur Football Club

The second reason is the clubs problem, Not Ange Postecoglu.

IMHO

No1 surely after 19 months and over £400M spent we should have more of an identity and sctructure to our play. The team is far from settled unless Ange has his faves playing which means players like Spence would never see light of day.

Liverpool might well be the best team in world football right now, or at the very least, the most in-form side. So, realistically, this was always going to be a tough challenge.

But the real disgrace isn’t the result, it’s the sheer lack of tactical awareness and the manner in which this performance has unfolded.

There is simply no justifiable way the manager should survive this. It’s fucking humiliating at this point.
Just watched the O’s v citeh and they put up more of a fight than we did.

Say what you want. But if we went out and signed a manager based purely on "Won the Eredivisie" we'd be saying he wasn't good enough for us.

It doesn't matter that we've spent more than them. We've wasted a lot of that money and we all know it. They also had better foundations to build upon with a few very good players.

Our best player left. And our next best player has looked a shadow of himself since. This team is in need of an overhaul and bringing in talented youngsters is great. But let's be honest, Richarlison isn't a 60 million pound striker. We completely spunked that money up the wall.

As things stand right now, we need a future star. Someone to break through and be our next Son, our next Kane. Someone we can build the team around. As things stand right now, I don't think many could agree on who our best player is. VDV is incredible when he's fit. But one great centre half doesn't win games. And right now in this squad, I can't pick out a single player who I would want to look to to be our game winner. It's not Maddison. It's not Kulusevski. It's not Son. It's not Richarlison or Solanke or Brennan Johnson. And I'm not saying we need to go out and buy someone for £200 million. What we need is to find that next game winner. And I don't think our Scouts have the ability to do that like they did when we got Son.
May be look closer to home then? We seem happy to let out academy players all go out on loan or barely give them minutes. Yet we are happy to pay £12M for a 21 yr old GK and put him straight when we have about 5/6 goalkeepers already . Is he any better than Austin or the lad at orient ot Gunter? Stupid decision making by whoever is in charge. Next we get a 19 yr old tel and he goes straight in. We have a young lad who banged in the goals last season sat on bench all season and is now out on loan. Think he is same age as Tel. Why not give him a chance? To boot we then recall our other young stronger who is cup tied in both cups. Couldn’t make it up. Still say it I see no reason why players like Donley, Devine, dorrington etc could do any worse than the shite we have playing. We seem happy to give likes of Berg minutes but not say Alfie. Look at Donley could he have been any worse than kulu in the middle?

Mate,
Really sorry for your loss. Hang on to the good memories. The shared laughs.

If you back here or not, I thank you for some of the best input.

Again, sorry for your loss.
