its an issue against sides that sit in, but games where legs are needed in midfield hes been our most important player in a lot of games.Sarr is in trouble for me. Technically not great and that’s an issue against teams that sit in. He’s a good player with attributes that need big spaces because he struggles when it’s tight in midfield. Against 90% of teams at home they just sit deep and frustrate. That’s where an Eze would be a game changer and Bergvall can step up.
Totally agree with that. I like him and there will be games where he’s more suited too. Games when teams have to open up if we get in front is ideal for him. I think especially at home we might see Bergvall and Madders start games together as the 8s.its an issue against sides that sit in, but games where legs are needed in midfield hes been our most important player in a lot of games.
we are a club where we are going to need different options and styles, we arent city where we dominate the ball every game.
He also hasn't had a good pre-season at all.Sarr is in trouble for me. Technically not great and that’s an issue against teams that sit in. oh yea 100%. against them shithouses that spend the game with 9 men around their 18 yard box have been a frustrating watch over the years. we now might have a midfield we can put together that will be ideal to deal with that.....the problem will still exist in the frontline tho as we lack players there who can play in tight spaces.Totally agree with that. That’s where the next two weeks make or break our season. Without upgrades 4th,5th or 6th is likely but getting the right players in changes that. We aren’t too far away but the front line needs to be better. We will still hurt teams with what we’ve got but imagine what we could do with better.oh yea 100%. against them shithouses that spend the game with 9 men around their 18 yard box have been a frustrating watch over the years. we now might have a midfield we can put together that will be ideal to deal with that.....the problem will still exist in the frontline tho as we lack players there who can play in tight spaces.
What did he say?I don't think we'll see Bergvall starting Prem games for atleast a month or so based on Ange's comments post match.
In the same comments, he mentioned how important Sarrs running was and that he's the benchmark for the youngsters.
He'll get minutes off the bench and will likely start in Europe, imv
His comments on the midfield three:
"Obviously they are three very young players in that midfield set up and as you said, the first time they had played together. But yeah, for the most part I thought they handled it pretty well. I think Lucas found it tough physically. It's a very demanding role in there and it's going to take us a while to get him up to speed from a physical perspective, but you can see the quality he has when he's on the ball.
And Archie, he's what he's shown the whole time. He's been very composed, he seems to understand the game really well and for the most part, I thought he was taking up the right positions. But again, physically I think we're gonna have to build him up. I thought Pape's running is just unbelievable. He's a benchmark for us in that midfield area.
So, yeah, I think the three of them - considering they're so young and that's the exciting bit - if we keep pushing them and improving them, they're going to be very good footballers for us"
The speed and volume of up and down in the prem is nothing like pre season.Pape is one I’m expecting to really kick on this year.
What I’m most excited by is his creativity. He’s obviously got a lot about him and he’s not afraid to try things that aren’t conventional. Once the physical side of his game improves he’ll be something special I reckon.
There were a couple instances today where he took the ball with his back to goal and instantly turned it into an attacking run with a solid first touch and turn of pace. It’s refreshing to see a player do that when we’ve had sideways/back pass merchants in that sort of position for so long.
They brought us to the Champions League final. Remember that
