Player Lucas Bergvall

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

He’s got the classic ‘will start first few Europa League games before being too good to drop from Premier League’ vibes about him.

Can see him being played in a similar role as Ange played O’Riley whilst at Celtic.

Very exciting. On form, a Bissouma, Bergvall and Maddison midfield would be sexy as.
Gray, Sarr, Bergvall - 6/8/10
It's going to be tasty.

I'd still chuck one of the seniors into the blend...... Probably Bentancur considering his lack of pre-season.

To begin with I'd expect:

EPL: Sarr / Biss / Maddison
Cups: Bentancur / Gray / Bergvall

...........Until longer term claims are being staked for regular first XI starts.

(We want to be dominant in this comp; not just scrape through and eventually get knocked out by a good team cos we have no momentum.)

We have a proper rotation for our midfield now. Our defence is looking almost like the same.

Our front line hasn't improved. Hopefully it does. But this will be another season of improvement at least.

With the right performances and some player growth, I definitely see improvement even if we don't get a front line player in.

At the end of next summer, we need to have gotten in 2-3 more top tier players in both around forward line and some more defensive rotation. Ange then will have a squad he can compete for the EPL championship with.

We are not that far off.

Our rotation should be a far cry from the rotation teams of old with the likes of Sanchez, Royal, Dele's brother etc.

???
Spence - Dragusin - VDV - Donley
Gray
Bentancur - Bergvall
Johnson - Richy - Werner
This assumes we sign upgrades at RW and CF.

Moore and Lankshear will probably stake a claim to start these games soon.

I've really liked Devine in pre-season and he also looks ready to start if he's kept around (could shift Gray to RB and Spence to LB to accommodate him).

We'll have to manage VDV/Romero's minutes as I think we need to move on from starting Davies at CB and the rumours of signing a LCB/LB have dried up.

It won't be a case of a team of sulking seniors who know they're the B team. It will mostly be talented youngsters desperate to impress which should mean better performances.

Goalkeeper remains an issue. Maybe we'll just play Vic in every game and hope for the best.

He does 3 things I love that too many of our other CMs don’t:

1. Drives into open space confidently.
2. Seeks out an incisive pass (not content to endlessly cycle around the perimeter.
3. If the 2nd doesn’t work out, immediately presses to win the ball back - not afraid to get stuck in.

Doubt he starts v Leicester, but bet he comes on at 60 mins. Too good not to play a large role!

If we don’t get a new attacker, there should be violence

Need to keep expectations down. He’s class but also played a full season in Sweden already. There will be great times and not so great times this season for Lucas. He will still be class after the not so great times.

Good point.

He's already had his pre season and was in the midst of league football already, so he should have been fitter and match ready more than anyone else in pre season.

He had almost a month off after his last game in Sweden before he started a preseason with Spurs, so should have been reasonably well rested after his 'half season' in Sweden, but raring to go for his Spurs preseason.

He's been great in preseason, think Ange needs to be careful not to overplay him in this his first season as he's still only aged 18 and it will be a lot more physically demanding at Spurs than in Sweden.

Yup... As you say; could be a blessing early doors, but we need to take care of him as the season rolls on..... As do our other Mfs; by finding form and consistency of their own.
