I'm kinda fascinated by that level of footballer that people widely agree are fantastic, and then following the wrong move they absolutely fall apart and they plummet.

Like Gervinho, for example.

Biggest collapse I can remember was Berahino. Strong for the England U21s and West Brom in the Prem, good all round attributes then has a transfer break down with us and it’s like he had a total mental breakdown or something. Was a shadow of what he was afterwards, like his soul and talent left his body.

People routinely use him as a punchline to protect Levy. But I watched him a lot. I think if he had moved to Spurs under Pochettino he'd have ended Mane levels. He had a great understanding with Kane too. Its weird what happened to him. As you say its like something broke in him.

Hard to think of someone with clear talent who fell off like that. Sad really.

Adriano is the one that I always think of. But he also had a lot of demons on a personal level that dragged him down.

I've said it a few times just lately for various players but this guy looks like an absolute monster , obviously nothing is guaranteed in football but he looks like he is going straight to the top , another hit for the scouting department!
We are slowly getting a core of young players that on there day are the fucking mustard with huge amounts of potential to become even better, and now we have started adding in some of the ready made pieces like Kudus , if we can get a bit of luck and add in a few more like Kudus in the fact they hit the ground running, then next couple of seasons should be very exciting!!!!

I generally agree, though I would caution about the young players. Bergvall (esp) and Gray are the only two who look pretty nailed on to make it as top / near top PL players. Odobert and Tel (esp) much less certain. And then Vuskovic is much younger, though you're right, is amazing for his age, and looks to have all the attributes.

I think if we can sign Semenyo and Paqueta (or similar type player) and get Kulu back to his best then we will be solidly in the Top 4 teams in the league, and potentially (next season) in the mix for the title.

I am more excited about Spurs than I have been since the 1980s.

I'd also Add in Sarr as well

Its crazy people talk about a kid played in a world cup quater final champions league and scored over 100 goals like he's Saido Berahino. If he does nothing else he has had a fine career. Odd choice to dunk on him when you get he shouldn't have made it at all, a sexually abused child is not really set up for a long elite career. He didn't just inexplicably drop off he just couldn't continue to out run his demons. Think Paul Stewart. 😔
