That’s why he will stay even if we get relegated. Club will rightly put a £100m price and no one will stump it up. He will leave in about 2 seasons or so when he gets to 20/21 to Madrid for a record fee. VDV, Romero and Dragusin are the CB’s that are gone.
I agree he would be our starting CB in the Championship.
No one will pay what it takes to force him out of the club.
He's so young and might feel a sense of duty to give something back to Spurs.

We just pitch it as a two year project:
Year 1: dominate the Championship and help us get back to PL
Year 2: test yourself in the best league in the world. A good year here opens the door to the elites clubs at a price we would be willing to do business.

By then he'd only have 2 years left on his deal so thats prime time for us to cash in.

This guy is arguably the biggest pure talent we have produced in decades for his age, best young defender probably in the world. Selling him £75m is cheap, very cheap.
That's subjective though, and I'm on your side. But from the club's standpoint, that's 700% pure profit, they said money isn't as great as we thought, and they need to sell. I'm putting 2+2 and thinking logically about it. To essentially broker a deal and get paid £60-70m for the honour is a lot of money.

And we did not produce him, behave.

There is certainly a number above which it becomes irrational not to just take the bag and use it to strengthen in multiple other places.

But in Luka's case that number is very very high.

How is that possibly a best case scenario?
Because we don't get forced to sell him outright.

Obviously we have him under a long-term contract and could force the issue, but you're not forcing a Barcelona-level player to play in the second division against his will when you could recoup a huge fee for him instead.

Seems like he wants to play with his brother at Hamburg next year. If we're in the Champo that's a win-win.

Well not produce but have been amazing for him giving him a great loan in Belgium and a great loan with his brother Germany, he couldn’t had been handled better by the club. We have so many pliers we could sell for good money like VDV, Romero, Udogie, Vicario etc it’s just not needed to lose him cheaply.

I think this is being a bit overblown.

The kid was playing for some minnows in Belgium last season.
He's now having a great season for a shit side in the German farmers league.

Starting week in week out for a club the size of Spurs next season (even in the Championship) will do much more for his competitive development/profile than another year at Hamburg would.

Either he stays and plays for us or we sell him for 70m+ imo.

He's a nailed on starter anywhere in the world now, and he is too good for Hamburg, but wants to play with his brother there and the Bundesliga is a good level where good, tactically quality football is played, unlike the Championship. That's workable for a year, but he will be at the absolute top level one way or another very very soon.

If Barcelona weren't skint this would be all over but the shouting. We'll see what the summer brings in terms of offers.

Lol@produced.

Fuck him, if he doesn't want to be here he can fuck off. The reason the club is in the state it's in is because of the mercenary nature of modern football. We're still a fucking stepping stone.

What does he owe the club? Everyone was fucking queueing up to sign him at 14/15 ffs.

All of the aforementioneds stock will have fallen greatly. Micky, we'll be lucky to get what we paid, same as the others.

I wouldn't say we've been amazing. He couldn't play for us when he went to Belgium, and it's a better league than Croatia and Poland. Then it was universally decided in the summer that he'd come to likely sit on the bench (that didn't play out, but who saw this coming) as CB was very deep.

I'd say we did the bare minimum for developing a player. To make ~£60-65m pure profit on a player, is serious money. No two ways about it, certainly not cheap. Only Bale and Kane would generate more money than in our history.

When Madrid enquired about Saliba they were immediately told not for sale. Anyone enquires about our players we look to make money. No way to build a team worth challenging for honours.
