I agree to a point, but if we're honest very few of us here have any comprehension of what it's like to be in his position right now. He probably shouldn't be saying anything, but then it's so easy for us to sit here in relative safety and with all our friends and family in relative safety. I just cannot bring myself to lecture him. This isn't just a minor tit-for-tat skirmish, there are people who want him and his entirely family exterminated on the basis of his ethnicity alone. Wiped off the face of the planet. It would take a better man than I to just be quiet in case I upset someone on the internet.
I think people close to him should be allowed to advise against it because of the magnitude of the potential repercussions. Back in the day before social media if you expressed these views to some strangers, close friends or whatever, through word of mouth it would eventually get around, he would get some blow back, and that sort of be it for the most part. But I think now it's a totally different kettle of fish where your thoughts are for all to see on the forevernet and will be dug up anytime anything controversial about you crops up in the foreseeable future and as we know the blow back is much larger and long lasting. Here I fully agree mate.
It really wasn't in Solomon's interests as a player building his career and not knowing where his next contract comes from. Every athlete should remember that it's in their interest to remain as politically distanced as possible. You want fans from as many walks of life as possible to identify with you as an athlete.
Where I don't agree is the club, or anyone really, telling him not to post or say anything. That's his call and his call alone.
It's hard to argue against anything you've said really but again to me it just all comes down to the fact that it seems pointless publicising your views as a professional footballer when the public discourse over this matter is so toxic. What is he essentially gaining from publicising his views? How does this benefit him as a person and as a footballer? Absolutely nothing. Can't he just be angry and disgusted about the situation and share his frustrations amongst his loved ones (and potentially a therapist), rather than open himself up to all this vitriol online?I agree to a point, but if we're honest very few of us here have any comprehension of what it's like to be in his position right now. Sorry I agree withJimothyCF14 It's bonkers to ask anyone as intimately involved as say Layla Moran or Manor Solomon not to react to the pain and anxiety. It looks like it was Islamic Jihad hit the hospital but the rush to judgement was comprehensive. I'd quietly tell him to zip it if I was the club but it's entirely understandable. We need to rally as a club and remain united. But these are very very testing times for lots of folk.
I'm not saying he shouldn't react to the pain and anxiety of the situation. I'm all for him doing that, I'm trying to emphasise the point of asking what is the point of expressing his views online when he can express himself as much as he wants behind closed doors without getting mullered by all these toxic cunts online? If he doesn't post online it doesn't mean he's any less incensed by this situation does it. It just seems like a very obvious net negative for his footballing career to do this over such a controversial matter.
Not sure how old you are but think( not sure why) your early 40's? My point is I think closer to me than Manor Solomon age wise. Because I think you make an artificial distinction that no longer exists one I used to make, the separation between the private and public via social media no longer applies. I agree its a mistake but the reality for Gen Z is the barrier is very porous.![]()

Cause they're way too delicate for English football and will continue to be.True. How the fuck also are Lo Celso and Gil always fucking injured?
I have to ask: Did you pick that gif because it looks like Manor? It took me a while to realise it was't him. Or was it a happy coincidence?![]()

Complete coincidence mate lolI have to ask: Did you pick that gif because it looks like Manor? It took me a while to realise it was't him. Or was it a happy coincidence?
Early firties mate. I think irrespective of whatever generation you're from, you need to have common sense about this stuff. He seems like a decent enough chap so I'm sure he'll learn from this, but it seems the hard way.Not sure how old you are but think( not sure why) your early 40's? Well, it's going to come in handy!
Idle thought: If you're into sci-fi at all, you should check out Arthur C. Clarke's 'The Light of Other Days'. It has an interesting glimpse into the future of a wholly interconnected populace. I keep being reminded about it when I see 'inside voice' comments online (including my own!).Early firties mate. You can't be serious?Surprised Cunti loaned him out, he was one of the better players.
I really didn't see a lot of games last season, but I did watch the 3-0 over PNE, he looked great in that and we certainly looked a better team with him in it when we came on. He set up.... can't remember his name now, plays for Everton, goal on his debut.
God, Cunti was a c**t.
I do love my Sci FI and for sure will check it out. cheers mateIdle thought: If you're into sci-fi at all, you should check out Arthur C. Clarke's 'The Light of Other Days'. it just shouldn't be a allowed, when social media posts impact a player's value, and the brand they work for.Sure okay. Not interested in sides.
Solomon should be told to keep quiet. Esp as we don’t have all the facts
Nice! Let me know what you think. His works have always been outstanding to me and that one stands out among them.I do love my Sci FI and for sure will check it out. cheers mate
