Marca already tapping up Suarez

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I've just realised that Suarez has the same birthday as me! Anyway, I don't think he'll leave this summer. A 7th-placed Liverpool is a far different proposition to one that is leading the table and looking likely to win the title (playing great football, and scoring loads of goals to boot).

Madrid don't really need him anyway. I think they need a bit of cover at right-back over a new striker, as Jese looks like he is going to become a real player and Benzema is doing very well this season.

Yeh Madrid may not need him but that won't stop them, United had Ronaldo and at the time they were as big as Barca or Madrid in many respects. Madrid will probably offer stupid money for their new 'hero' and the circus will continue. Funny thing is that last season Bale's brilliance did carry us no question, he was incredible, Saurez was great at the start of this season but has been a little hot and cold the last 10 games in comparision to previous . Liverpool have just been outstanding as a team, you can't just give it to Saurez, last few months Gerrard has been their stand out for me.

There is a school of thought that proposes that Suarez has been on a charm offensive this season, he's really knuckled down, cut out a lot of the diving, and resisted the urge to chow down on his fellow professionals.

It's a world cup year, he's clearly one of the best players in the world right now, and will want his stock to be at it's very highest. If someone wants to pay for him in the summer. He will leave, and to whoever will pay him the most.

thing is, I dont think he ever wanted to go near woolwich last summer. as they were the only bid, he couldnt throw his toys put the pram to get gone.
This year, its gonna be a different matter.

It wasn't a big enough step for him to kick up a stink. But if Real, PSG, City, or whoever else start circling, then he will soon get itchy feet, and considering Liverpool are openly in breach of his contract, he can pretty much leave whenever he likes now.

agreed. Liverpool's owners coming and admitting they breached his previous contract *might* backfire spectatcularly. I would love to hear a legal opinion on it.

Fuck that. Anything that weakens the opposition is good for us
Is that how we aim to climb up the table? By hoping our opposition becomes weaker every season (even-though every precedent in the last 10-odd years suggest they've gotten stronger following the transfer window)? I'd much rather see us improve in terms of squad/management than hoping our rivals sell their best players

Its not the way but it would certainly help. We need to improve ourselves, if anyone above us 'becomes weaker' then it is a bonus. I get what PLJ is trying to say.

Who has become 'weaker' from the other five Top 6 clubs in the last 5-odd years and what are the chances of that happening anytime soon bearing in mind their financial resources?

The thing that Suarez will have to learn is that Madrid = Ronaldo and that on the pitch Ronaldo has to be the main man, that's not a critique of him - its just the way he seems to operate and by his performances he earned that position. Bale has really been smart in his approach to Ronaldo, he respects him openly and on the pitch you'll rarely see Bale shoot when Ronaldo is in a better position. That's the smartest thing he could've done with all the pressure and the record fee, do not put yourself in front of one of the best footballers i've ever seen. And a player that can be very moody on the pitch (i dont know how he is as a person obviously).

But, i cant emphasise this enough, i think Ronaldo is a phenomenon and for me better than Messi if you compare overall ability. If you would break down the two players purely on basis of some 'objective' standards (heading, shooting, speed, workrate, efficieny, dribbling) then Ronaldo would come out on top. But comparing two incredible players and having an argument about who's marginally better then the other is pretty useless, admiring their dedication and talent is the way to go.

People love to crack the very talented on the aspect of their play that could maybe lack in quality or their personality. At the hight of Zidane's career some people said , yeah he's good but not very fast or he doesnt tackle enough ... that's not even glass half empty, that's ignoring the fact that the glass had a superb tasting beverage in it to begin with.

But i'm sure that if we'd had Zidane at Spurs, we would be having a topic on here discussing his weaker points (or his body language)

Heaven forbid our rivals get weakened.

Just imagine the cunts with RVPs goals last season.

Are you seriously proposing that they weren't weakened by his sale?

They brought in Cazorla, Podolski and Giroud

They managed 72 goals last season (no RVP)

As opposed to 74 the season before (RVP's best)

I'd say the balance is very much debatable, imv

Same with us and Bale last season - in my view, we are definitely stronger after bringing in 7 new signings compared to last year.
