Been thinking this over, surely with certain cases we could create a job for his parent(s). Say “Project coordinator” for the Hotel Build, or other abstract position.

Given the fees involved, say a £50k a year three year contract for his Dad, wouldn’t that enable a minor to come over as well? Might need some jiggery pokery.
Chelsea did stuff like that under Abramovic and it wasn't particularly well received if my memory is correct.

What are you expecting when you hear of a club 'overhauling' their academy
Something deeper than just signing some youngsters, change of personnel running it, change of scouting/scouts, change of facilities, change of approach, infrastructure changes, things like that...

The word overhaul to me implies changing something from top to bottom, adding a handful of players isn't doing that, the academy will be running today exactly the same way it was running last week, just with a couple of different players in it.

To be clear, I'm not complaining about signing these players, or the running of the academy, just disagreeing that it's been overhauled.

But we did all that when Paratici came in, changed all the coaching methods, focused on targeting the best young players, created a line from the academy from the first team, invested more time and money into the academies...now that they are all playing the same system as the first team.

Signing good young players like these is part of the overhaul, it's merely a continuation of the work Paratici did, it's not that deep.

Honestly, I really don't know why we're discussing it at this length.

You posted in the thread about signing this kid from Ireland as if it was related to the academy, I disagreed, and then you said that you didn't mean that anyway, wtf are we still even talking about here???

You tell me, you're the one who wanted to be petty, you've got your answer now so...🤷🏾‍♀️

A lot of this is being made in Ireland, good exposure to the League of Ireland etc. if I’m being honest, I think we’ll keep hold of him for a few years. He’ll get the occasional sub game under his belt, there’ll be a few loans and then we’ll sell him on when he’s 23-24 for a tidy profit. This to me feels more like a business investment rather than an investment in our football team. Love to be proven wrong though.
