Match Thread: Everton (H) THE GAME IN HAND

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I would prefer a win - that's all I have to say on the matter.

I think, fingers crossed, the team we put out should be fairly strong, albeit the (potentially long term) loss of King is a major blow and there must surely be a debate about whether Lennon starts.

So firstly, we're looking a little light at CB now:

1) Kaboul, as epic as he's been this season, undoubtedly benefits significantly from a more experienced partner
2) Dawson's just on his way back and, as brave a defender as he may be, I've always had slight misgivings about his mobility and his reliability on the deck
3) Bassong is a little hit and miss and clearly looking to leave.

The choice at CB then depends on Bassong's state of mind vs. Dawson's fitness - a bit of a lesser of two evil's type debate, which isn't ideal seeing as we're meant to be in a title race, but it is what it is I suppose. Not so sure I wouldn't prefer Caulker to either right now! I'm assuming Parker will be fit (he had a fitness a week ago so I'd assume he'll be OK by now. If he's not we play Livermore.

The other question is then whether or not to start Lennon. Tough call. Obviously with no Sandro it limits the likelihood of a Norwich (a) type team. We could always play Rafa on the right and Ade and JD up front. On balance I'd say Harry's likely to go down this route.

Those are my initial thoughts!

After this game we can't use the excuse of the game in hand anymore. So if we lose this we will look like cunts. So we have to come out all guns blazin.

Friedel to score. 3-1 Spurs.

Everton away form = W-4 D-1 L-4 F10 A10
Lost to Man City, Woolwich, Chelsea, Newcastle.

So a mid table team comes to a Top3 team. Only one result to look for. Home win.

Probably won't be pretty but Adebayor due a goal, and Everton played quite a few of their first team at the weekend so our rested players should benefit later on.

Go with a squeaky bum 3-1, with a late 3rd goal for Spurs to calm the nerves in the 92nd minute.

If we win this we go level with united don't we?

Such a big game I think, mainly from a psychological point of view, what q boost it would give the player to know they aren't just chasing the top 2, now they are with them.

Jagielka out by the way - bonus

Who's marking Tim Howard?

In all seriousness, I think we'll be fine. We'll edge them by a goal, 2-1 I say. They lost to Bolton ffs...at home! Bale 15', Donovan 41', Bale 66'.

Always a difficult game against Everton, and the players will definitely have that pressure on their minds somewhat. It's a huge game, they'll be desperate to win and go level second with Utd. So if things aren't going our way I can see frustration/desperation setting in a bit maybe, although expect an open game anyway really.

I had a ticket for this game and they went and rearranged it for a day I can't do. And my social calendar is skinnier than Mr Burns. Cunts. Oh well, I reckon we'll win it, gonna be bold and say 3-1 even though I think it will be tough. Really hope we can win convincingly.

[formation=4-2-3-1 GK=Friedel D=BAE Kaboul Daws Walker DM=Modric Parker M=Bale - - - Lennon AM=VDV S=Adebayor]Some notes here.[/formation]

Is Parker fit?

Friedel, Walker, Dawson, Kaboul, BAE, Lennon, Parker, Modric, Bale, VdV, Ade
depends on fitness/injuries - but of the three home games left this is prob toughest and
so put out strongest side poss - must win game in hand

I'm thinking no Lennon, Daws at the back with Defoe to start, score twice with VDV and Donovan getting the others.

3-1 why not eh?

I'd also be surprised if Lennon started. He's been out for weeks and he only played on Saturday.

That being said, Walker and VDV on the right would be totally unsuitable to playing against Baines and Drenthe.

Bloody hope Lennon's fit - his defensive work is excellent
