I understand why you would say this, I’m just the type of person who would rather rip the band aid off and start the healing now.

If Ange wins a cup somehow, league form will be completely ignored no matter how bad or embarrassing, and we’ll see him here again next season.
See: Last sentence, previous post.

If we win the EL, I won't really be that concerned with the league form next season either. It will, again, be the biggest accomplishment in the past 40 years of the club.

Anyone else underwhelmed by this. The lad clearly didn't want to sign for us, and we are just developing someone elses player. PL season is dead would have rather seen the minutes he will get given to Moore, Scarlett and Co.

I’m enthused by this, if he enjoys his time with us and becomes a pivotal player then he may be convinced to join in the summer. In the mean time he is an exciting talent to add to our attacking numbers - which is desperately needed.

Just keep an open mind, let’s see how it all plays out.

No. He's much better than anyone else we were seriously linked with. Bailey and Garnacho were doing the rounds all weekend and someone was making a case for Felix or Nkunku this morning. Tel has much higher ceiling than all them.

Is he a superstar that walks into our team and transforms us? No.

Does he start for us most games and have the potential to grow and become a match winner? Yes. He could be the difference between us winning a trophy or not!

BBC reporting MU would not pay the 5M loan fee. Ange persuaded him so what has he been promised? So many appearances whether he does well or not? Hope he is worth it.

We've got 4 months to convince him he wants to stay we'll need a whip round for Chick King vouchers.

But if we can lift a cup, if we can, maybe he'll want to stay and be part of it.

Make it so.

The problem with potential and high ceilings is we'd need to hold on to him to realise it. We can start developing but we won't get the actual benefit.

I want everyone at the training centre sucking up to him and making him want to stay every day for the rest of the season.

I would usually be inclined to agree

But the position we are in right now means beggars can't be choosers

If it means I get to watch less of Richarlison or sonny playing striker ,it will be a masterstroke

If a player does well at a loan club a lot of the time they end up wanting to stay. Chances are Bayern buy at least one player in his position in the summer too.
Bayern already agreed to sell him to us this window, but he only seems to want a loan presently, so I doubt it would be much bother if he decides to join Spurs on a contract, from Bayern, in the summer.

I have been told that even with an option the player still needs to agree at the end of the loan period. If that's true and we convince him he wants to be here it will be hard to gazump us so not much different than an option. Fee to BM may go up but can't see it being loads more than 50m

Werner, Odobert, Solanke, Johnson are all out while Richarlison's hardly ever fully fit for more than a few games at a time, and there are still 3 1/2 months left of the season, so Spurs defo needed an attacker.
Moore is barely 17, so he will need time and Scarlett was recalled from Oxford due to not getting regular playing time, so I see no problem getting Tel on loan in an emergency situation like this.
Yes, the ideal situation would have been if he's signed permanently for Spurs but at least Spurs managed to convince him to come, something Man Utd and Chelski didn't manage to do.
