Player Mathys Tel

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Bayern already agreed to sell him to us this window, but he only seems to want a loan presently, so I doubt it would be much bother if he decides to join Spurs on a contract, from Bayern, in the summer.
Really interesting to see how he fares with us.Its quite evident he’s desperate to succeed at Bayern, but with Kane there I’m sure he won’t get as much game time as he would like.

He's just along for the ride, he wouldn't be here if not for United's refusal to meet Bayern's demands for loan. I don't hold it against him as I'm fully aware that this is business, nor would I expect some 19 yr old from another country who doesn't have any kind of emotional attachment to this club to jump right in. But let's temper our expectations about his viability as a long term option. This is not an obstacle in the way of him being a professional and giving his absolute best until the time comes, but it's also true that one foot of his is already out of the door.

Ffs. Option just means we would’ve agreed a fee. Player can still say no.

Nothing stopping us trying to agree a fee in future. Player remains free to tell us to fuck off.
I thought we did agree a fee with Bayern? The problem was Tel would only come on a loan with no further commitment. If he does well though we will probably end up in an auction with other clubs in the Summer.

Tel was not the substitute for Kane but more winger no. 5. But this season none of the wingers really had big issues.
For me Tel is more like a Gnabry - can play striker in a system that has around 50% ball possession but can play an wing that goes inside when possible, too.

Bayern has 71% ball possession - Tel is not the centre forward for that kind of play. Müller usually is replacement for both Musiala and Kane and even the 2 together do not really leave a lot time for a substitute. And there were months were he hardly got any minutes either.

I’m ok with this, not a huge amount of downside for me.

He strikes me as someone trying to make Bayern play him more, not someone trying to force a sale.

He may come over and be brilliant, and we may then miss out on a permanent deal in the summer, however to me, it’s more helpful if he comes over smashes it, helps us nick a trophy and then if he wants to head home, fair enough.

We just need the capable bodies in, climb the table a bit, get to the end of the season, and then review all players and see who we want to manage them. You never know, maybe these players can find their way to a Europa league final in the meantime.

He’s alive , fast and not currently injured .

We need people like him right now IMO .

I’m glad that Daniel chose to spend the money we’ve so generously given him , over many years, for the possible short-term betterment of the Club .

We should all be very grateful.

Is he better than Benjamin Stambouli?
That’s quite a bar.
