option to buy
Pre-agreed price, avoiding bidding war with other clubs and hijacked deals. Also everything in place for the transfer to be finalised quickly (no fucking around trying to get a better price right until the deadline of summer transfer window). What would you suggest "Option to buy" means instead then?
If you're correct, then it means exactly nothing, best as I can tell???
Yeah, he’s obviously got quality, but he’s only got a handful of starts in the pro game. He doesn’t have the experience of playing any position, striker, wide forward. Plus, add in PL intensity. He’ll need time.
But he' got 10 goals and 6 assists in 2023/24 in Bundesliga and CL, not to be sneezed at
Munich is a boring shithole if you're young. We can hope he settles in London.See what happens. Bayern want the money. They’ve got their eyes on Wirtz this summer and that will be mucho expensive. Also, if he starts scoring here, players are superstitious creatures of habit. They stay where the goals are flowing.
Does Tel have the option too or is it just down to the clubs now?
€5m is bonuses so £45.7m€5m loan fee + €55m option = €60m = £50m
The original fee agreed
That's the spirit! With an option to not to sell to us for Bayern. Of a player who doesn't want to leave Bayern and just looking for playing time. Who also has an option to not to stay here beyond the summer. I just can't see a scenario that Tel is both a success and remains our player. No chance.
Why are we assuming that's the deal that has been agreed? I know that's how such agreements normally work, but surely it could have been written into that deal that the option is dependent upon the player also agreeing to it in the summer (as opposed to just now) - given what we've heard about the player's feelings, that seems likely doesn't it?All the terms will have been agreed and I think player has had to sign that - so its a club option only
In practice no point in trying to keep an unhappy player
yes providing he's got work visa etc which should not be an issue to get
I'm not even sure what that first sentence means, but if you mean that Bayern can refuse to sell him to us if he does well in the next 4 months, no they can't - it is our option, if we choose to exercise it, Bayern have to accept it. (Whether or not the player himself has some kind of approval / veto clause that he can exercise in May / June is another matter...)With an option to not to sell to us for Bayern. Absolutely agree with all the plus sides of that - it's a great opportunity for both him and us. However if he has insisted on that unusual clause being added (which is possible), then if he does very well with us, he might want to return to Bayern, and they might want him back. Lots of ifs and buts I know, but possible. However hopefully he is great for us and wants to stay, in which case it will have been a stroke of genius having the option added late on in the process. Fingers crossed huh?The standard way for an option is to agree all terms, signed by player so its a club option only to exercise
If Spurs don't take up option he has to return to Munich - and they are not going to welcome him back if he has flopped on loan
And Spurs unlikely to exercise option if he flops - only if he succeeds
If he doesn't want to stay at Spurs despite a successful loan period - will Munich want him back ? So he's back to square one and sitting on Munich's bench or being sold !.
Given Levy's deal on Cardosa its perfectly possible that if spurs want to exercise option but Tel isn;t keenm on staying at Spurs, Munich might owe Spurs a fee or something. Who knows !
But we need a player like him atm - so no risk to us, and if we think he isn't staying over next few months we just don't play him - we play Odobert or Moore et al.
