Player Mathys Tel

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Both Deeney and Rooney on MoTD said not a penalty on Bergvall and that the ref and VAR got it right. I’m not necessarily agreeing, just reporting that it was covered.

Tel may have huge potential and another manager might get the best out of him, but for the moment and for c£60m, he is not what we need now and those funds should be directed into other priority areas in my opinion.

Did they acknowledge that Bassey didn’t get the ball? Or even talk about the blatant red card tackle?

He's never been a striker, he's an inside forward or at worst a winger and coached in the right system he could be pretty explosive however he's still incredibly raw and needs a season and consistent matches in his best position to get the best out of him.

We shouldn't be spending £60m on him in the Summer either, if Bayern want to negotiate another loan then fine but we're better off sending him back and using that money elsewhere.

He's been at Spurs since end January but has not impressed in either effort or looking good though out any game, and although there might be another dozen games left in EL and PL, I don't see him impressing enough to earn a £60m move. The yardstick is now Odobert who has looked far better in just a couple of games , despite just coming back from a 5 month injury layoff and is understandably slightly rusty.

Maybe another loan next season, but I'm not sure he's even worth buying at £30m - I think there will be lower risk players to buy.

Realistically, it’s MoTD and we’re a minor part of it, we’re not going to get in depth analysis of every decision. And the whataboutery in the scheme of things hardly absolves us of very much. We were beaten on the day and deservedly so playing like that. Fulham fans and Silva were pissed off they didn’t get a pen follow the push by Jed. They never covered that.

Because that was a yellow card for dive of the season that was never given.

There are 2 things here:

1. Spurs didn't show up. referees didn't stop us getting a shot on target for 70mins and they didn't concede 2 soft goals.

2. 2 massive errors were made by the officials and both of them would have made a drastic impact on the outcome of the game. If it was Liverpool or woolwich we'd never hear the end of it with those decisions going against them.

That push by Spence in the first half could easily have been a pen. Seen them given plenty of times. I’d have wanted it.

Ange chose last season to say he’s not one for complaining about ref decisions and that’s not who he is or who we are. He’s made his bed, so no good bleating about it now.

Award winning dive. There is a clip in the match thread. Should have been a yellow card.

Agree on the second point.

I hope the next coach comes out firing at refs from game 1.

Very much mixed feelings regarding Tel to be honest.

With his time here he has shown that -
a) he is not good enough to be even 2nd pick for ST position
b) he has quite a mature head on his shoulder and as person is very much respectable - how he talks to fans and generally behaves
c) has some talent and abilities, jus questionable if that is enough

I kinda share the feeling that "there is something in there", but also admit we haven't seen what is it and how close to the surface it is either :D .

Yesterday he was more active and better than when he was playing as CF. But also one has to admit - he had like 3 moments across 70 minutes (one carry from LW in first half; one cross into area from RW and then this moment where he took a shot which was saved by keeper). But is that enough to grant 60 mil or even frankly 40 mil fee- right now I say "NO". Though he did prove to be more fruitful on the wing compared to Johnson, so I would expect first 3 picks for winger position from here until end of season to be Son-Odobert-Tel-Johnson. He might turn the "NO" to "YES" but for that he actually would have to prove him and actually participate in goals.

I doubt he will be here after Ange is fired. On loan anyway best not purchase.

Wouldn't like to see us throw 60M at him , he's a slightly more robust and productive Johnson , which isn't a great credit .
Would rather get a more seasoned player that is hitting the ground running and helping the younger players .
