The bizarre thing as ever is that Doherty, Royal and Spence are still trying to prove they have what we/Conte needs and yet in terms of delivery we recently had Trippier.
In that regard and even more than the Olympian that Walker has been, we had the primary right wing back.
Only us I swear.
Trippier's had 2 clubs since then and we've had 4 managers since Poch decided to freeze him out....
Move on.
We need him to come in and hit the ground running. Did well yesterday. One thing though, playing him and Perisic willl make us pretty slow out wide. Something for Conte to think about.
Building block performance..... I'd be tempted to play him on Tuesday but that might be pushing it too soon.
Phew, thought I needed to change my plans lol
He said it. I suppose he means he is choosing the best players and we should trust him. But bloody hell...
The clip above certainly doesn't sound great for Matt agree also that little to gain for Conte saying something like that .
This is the difference. Under all circumstances Pep, Klopp, Ancelotti etc. protect their players in the media. Conte is very Mourinho-esque in this regard.
Obviously, Doh should know he has no future, he didn't need to hear it from the clip. Not being picked even though Royal is playing crap is enough. But still brutal and off putting for Doherty.
Message to Levy, give me the tools or am gone.
Oh my god. There are enough of Gooner vultures around.
Maybe bit less melting from own fans would be nice?
Conte NEVER said something like "I do not start Doherty because he is so bad we would lose games" - trigger-happy fans could imagine such things with filling gaps in their own heads, but it was not what was said.
Direct quote is - "Also Doherty last season played every game. Now I’m not seeing him in the right way to start the game.
I'm not stupid, I don't want to lose. I try to put the best team, to pick the best team."
One can also interpret it that he pointed out that he trusts Doherty as he picked him into starting XI consistently last season, and right now because of his physical situation (being out with injury for number of months!) he is not in the right condition to start games just yet.
Both are possible INTERPRETATIONS from what was said. I do not think we should take either of those interpretations and pretend it was something Conte clearly said. Neither was that.
During the international break Doherty started both games for Ireland, he was subbed in against Woolwich and now he started against Brighton. So I am even bit optimistic that he is on his way to be fully back. And it is just what it is - optimism and belief. Not projecting it to Conte and his words.
P.S what a decisive block it was in the end! I was actually generally pleased with his defensive contribution. His positioning at times was even better than Royals. I am thinking of some crosses that he cleared / headed further from our goal for example.
Can't actually believe people read it like that...actually I can - people seem to read into anything these day depending where their agenda lies.
He certainly did say it. Maybe that's not what he meant, second language and all that, but he said it.Oh my god. There are enough of Gooner vultures around.

You even went to the trouble of quoting it for us.
Calling fellow Spurs fans "gooner vultures" for discussing something the manager actually said is out of order.
Anyway, Doherty was pretty good against Brighton, hope he gets a run in the team.
