We now go to Hotspur Way for Jose's view on the situation.

Jose to play in a double pivot with Tanguy on Sunday it is.

"Covid test results after matches have been played, randomers running on the pitch while team sessions are taking place...."

...And there we have his actual thoughts.

The whole thing is rank stupidity.

I'm obviously disappointed for us but for his own sake, I wish him a speedy recovery. You really have no idea how the virus will hit you until it does. I know he's an athlete in insane shape but sometimes that just doesn't matter...

Armstead has been hospitalized twice and has suffered from a variety of complications connected to the virus, including significant respiratory issues, and has been hit harder than some expected.

23 year old NFL player has been experiencing severe symptoms for months.

Get well Matt.

they are going to cancel the footy again soon guaranteed.

Every team is going to have 2-3 players testing positive with it over this international break.
They will put pressure on the league and it will get cancelled again.

Shame because watching the footy is one of the only things keeping me sane at the minute.

This international break has a lot to answer for.

There is no need to cancel club football though , just cancel European and international football

The Premier League clubs should have put their foot down and refused to release their players. Too many international players of small countries play in leagues that can't afford to test regularly and these are now contaminating the elite level leagues and putting them in jeopardy.

I'd agree but when it comes to Covid people tend to lean heavily on the side of caution, plus could see a few managers like Klopp who has a lot of influence trying to get it postponed for a few weeks for obvious reasons.

From what I can see this international break the Covid security has been a shitshow and if worst case half dozen players from each club return having tested positive what choice will the league have?

It’s going to be a cluster fuck that’s for sure , almost like having international games during this time was a bad idea

But then you get players like Mo Salah catching it and a video of him dancing with someone on his shoulders at a wedding in Egypt , for the record I agree that these games shouldn’t have gone ahead but players also need to learn common sense and stay within a bubble etc

I think many of hte clubs may be up for a postponement because it would increase the potential length of time toward the end of the season when stadiums may be allowed to have fans, meaning more income over the season.

They won´t cancel top football again - they did it once and I don´t expect it to happen again. Especially since players won´t be going on International duties again anytime soon - hopefully, the world will be a different place by March.

The problem here is the complete lack of seriousness in relation to players safety. There are so many risks and so many variations of risks when you put them together like this in the middle of a pandemic. Doherty was a victim and I wish him a quick recovery, but I can´t help but thinking we are lucky to have only one player with the virus - until now. There are simply no guarantees that Winks, Bale, Davies and Rodon are safe. We just don´t know. And the situation involving Sonny - at this exact moment - is absolutely absurd.

And the worst part: this is happening because the FA´s of this world need money. National teams are basically playing friendlies - Nations League friendlies and/or just friendlies. It´s like the Big Picture project. When we need more humanism and respect, they are just squeezing things and trying to take advantage of a bad situation to make more money. They don´t care about players, clubs, real competitions, fans - nothing.

It just makes me sick as a football fan above anything else.

On NFL coverage on sky they discussed why the NFL are being so rigid with having the super bowl in early February. The answer was that covid is getting worse not better. So just like in football, it's best to just try get through this season asap in the hope that next season isn't messed up as well. Delaying things now in the hope to get fans into stadiums is not option with cases rocketing. The Euros could be at risk again the way things are 😕

I’ve said it in Son’s thread. These international break are insane during these pandemic situations!

The way they are handling it, they might as well pool all football players in the world in one big conference center and let them all pick up COVID and be done with it! None of the measures keep these footballers from picking it up and spreading them all over the world!!!

Aurier was excellent at home to City last year (Still don't believe it was a penalty anyway) and is usually always great against the bigger clubs, usually because they allow him a lot more space offensively. It would likely mean another Sissoko start to help out at the back when he's bombing forward - but I don't feel any less confident with Aurier in there than Doherty.
