Nuno is trending on twitter , half think he has lost the plot for selling Doherty and the other half think he is going to leave now as they are selling players behind his back, always a good sign that the fans weren’t willing to pay for Dohertys taxi fare to London to speed up the signing! :mourlmao:

Feels like this has gained a lot of momentum today. At a price of £12-15m, it seems like a smart deal that fits the profile of what Mou wants in a RB.

Transfer news tracker: Tottenham close to Matt Doherty deal with Wolves

Tottenham Hotspur and Wolverhampton Wanderers are getting closer to agreeing a fee for Irish right-back Matt Doherty, reports Jack Pitt-Brooke.

Jose Mourinho has made Doherty his priority after an impressive spell at Wolves as he looks for an upgrade on Serge Aurier in that position. Wolves initially wanted £20million for the 28-year-old but Spurs’ first offer was understood to be closer to £12m before add-ons. But both sides are keen to reach an agreement and are likely to settle on a fee of roughly £15m.

Doherty still has three years left on his contract at Wolves but their interest in Ainsley Maitland-Niles of Woolwich suggests that they have already lined up a replacement.

Tottenham have been talking to clubs about a deal for Aurier but this week AC Milan pulled out of the race to sign him. If Doherty joins, he would be Spurs’ third signing of the summer after Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Southampton and Joe Hart on a free from Burnley.

He's actually very, very similar to Aurier.

Not to sure where you got that from mate. Aurier is incredibly erratic and takes 30 crosses before he reaches one of our players. Doherty scores goals and has been extremely valuable in terms of creativity for Wolves. Aurier doesn’t have a creative bone in his body. Doherty is miles the better full back mate.

To suggest that Serge doesn't contribute goals and assists is unfair.... That's concrete stuff that he does have to his name.

Sigh......
Doherty 32 PL apps 3 assists 4 goals (EL 10 apps 1 assist 2 goals)
Aurier 31 PL apps 5 assists 1 goal (CL 5 apps 2 assist 1 goal)

Both Aurier and Doherty have scored & assisted more then TAA from OPEN PLAY this season! They are the top two defenders in the league from open play. It takes 30 crosses to find a player because they are low percentage, queue a special forum member (not you) to now post a funny or comment on crosses not being a low percentage opportunity whilst simultaneously not comprehending the factual mathematical evidence that a) supports this b) and evidenced by the top two defenders at doing so in the league.
