Ex-Spurs Player Matt Doherty

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I didn't say it was his fault I'm not blaming him for the defeat but I don't think he's done enough to say you can't take me out of this team. Defensively horrible imo.
Him and Perisic both tbh. Unless we intend to attack, having players like him and Perisic is more of a hinderence than a help.

I'm actually especially disappointed in Perisic, other than some decent crosses he was shit. Didn't bring the composure and calm of a senior pro, instead he looked one of the most flustered and erratic players on the pitch.

We know who Doherty is, if there's a recent Spurs player to compare him to, it's Dele, not Trippier or Walker. His whole claim to fame is that he can ghost into the back post and score.

he's shite to be honest, always has been. Had a nice little spell last season of course and he's a bit better going forward than Emerson so he'll have moments were he does something good but then you've got to deal with what's like a bipedal rusty ass fridge freezer on your right hand side who doesn't have the defensive ability or the athleticism to excel in the role especially away to top teams.

emerson is pointless at RWB. thats pointless. doc isnt world class but hes a million times better than emerson. see what hes like when he has kulu in front of him again. they had good synergy at the back end of last year before cash assaulted him. kulu will benefit far more by having doc make smart runs than he will emerson doing fuck all and looking like a fish out of water up there.

Matt Doherty, the Tottenham and Republic of Ireland defender, says the demands of the Premier League have left him ‘cold and emotionless’.
Doherty, who has struggled to nail down a regular Spurs starting place under Antonio Conte, revealed how constant fear of failure playing at the highest level has taken its toll.
‘Being a footballer every day, I think, has made me cold in certain aspects,’ Doherty, who was quoted in the Irish Independent, said.

‘In family life, I’m just emotionless at times. In football, you have to stay so level that I take that across into family life at times. That’s not really a great thing. You know when you’re having bad times in the Premier League and the scrutiny is high, you literally don’t want to go out. You are just miserable.’

Doherty, 30, will be hoping to make just his fourth start of the season when Spurs host Newcastle on Sunday as he tries to prove to Conte that he can shine at right wing-back. ‘As a defender who loves to attack I guess it’s perfect,’ he said. ‘You have to be able to contribute offensively and you play with more courage.’
