Manager Mauricio Pochettino

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Poch has a good mindset there. Granted if we suddenly end up in the semi final of both the cups he will probably rescind that statement. But no team should walk into a season gunning for one of the cups.
There's no need for him to rescind the statement if we happen to find ourselves in that situation, his point is that we're aiming for the 'big' prizes if we happen to acquire any of the other two all the better

It still saddens me how the FA cup is regarded amongst managers these days. Always thought of it as the greatest knockout tournament of them all. I know the game has moved on & there are more coveted prizes to the extent that the FA cup has become a sideshow, but I wish it still held its former prestige

Some of his comments have been a bit different this season in comparison to last. I still have faith he will turn it around, but if you say "we are the problem, not Wembley", and then we lose again, and say we are "happy to lose that way"... it does open you up to a lot of criticism, especially after saying "it would mean nothing for me to win the League Cup or the FA Cup".

This is the thing with Poch, he cares about the way we play. He wants to win playing the best football, and we don't adapt our game to the opposition really, we just play the way we do. Look at Chelsea today, they don't do that, they adapt to the opposition, especially if they are a very good side. Same with Utd, and others.

Sometimes I wish we would play smarter in that respect, even last season, but I am trying to trust that Poch is right and that if we continue to improve then even teams trying to nullify us won't be able to, we'll just overwhelm teams by being the best.

That's why he is saying he is happy here because he knows we are better. I guess that is going to wear thin though if we don't come out top of the league this year.

In my opinion he is completely right about being ambitious and aiming to play well (and win) rather than just to win. Aiming only to win may see you succeed in the short term, but you will struggle long term. We would not be where we are had he focused on winning over developing.

Today we didn't lose because we didn't adapt or they outplayed us. They had a brilliant free kick and were gifted a goal. Margins, luck, cunts.

I was saying the same thing earlier. I love Pochs all glory mentality but teams of high quality who adapt against us always seem to do well by doing so. Might be worth adding a few more stings to our bow. First of all more signings a must

We are the problem it isn't Wembley. It's a weakness in our mentality not because the pitch is made of custard

I'm not disagreeing with that. But what I am saying is, once you do say that, then the blame for not putting it right starts to turn to the manager. Stop talking about Wembley. Okay then let's start talking about mentally weak players. Why are the players still mentally weak to grind out big games at Wembley or Stamford Bridge? Why has the manager not solved that problem if he recognises it? Surely that is the next narrative...

In my opinion there is no evidence that there even is a genuine Wembley problem.
- We lost to the Champions today to a late goal.
- Most of our losses that the media talk about at Wembley have been to top teams in late stages of cups, like Chelsea last season, and they start the stats from 2009 because we beat Chelsea at Wembley in 2008 in the league cup final so it looks worse if they cut it there.

Why would we be expected to have won most of those games against bigger clubs over the years at Wembley, exactly? Look at some of the players we had in some of those games and the players the oppositions had. I don't see any logic to it. Let's wait till next week and if we are losing to Burnley at Wembley then fair enough I'll accept there is a problem, but otherwise it's just BS frankly.

Its been the same story at Wembley. We boss possession and fail to score enough goals to win. As if, other teams know how to play against us. Shock.

Since we beat Chelsea in the cup final weve played the likes of Utd, Portsmouth, Chelsea again numerous times, Monaco, Leverkusen and Moscow and we've won just one of them.

What they all had in common was us dominating possession, not finishing our chances and conceding stupid goals.

How can we be unlucky 9 times?

We've got to play there this season so let's just get on with it.

I think if we play like we did today, especially in the first half, we will win alot more points then we'll drop that's for sure.
Yes we will, but can we just stop going on about Wembley? I agree it's a valid talking point, but it's always discussed with a negative lean. If we as fans, can't make a go of this, then maybe we should be looking at ourselves.
