Quick shout out to Poch - I think his tactics today against Liverpool were actually alright.

We conceded that first goal due to horrible individual sloppiness from Dier. Although their press gave us some scares in the first half, they couldn't keep it up and we dominated the 2nd half.

Wanyama and Lamela clearly a good choice of substitutions too.

If only this match had come at a time where our previously injured players were match fit, but c'est la vie.

3 subs made today.

First sub in Lamela went on to win the penalty in the 94th minute.
Second sub in Wanyama scored the equaliser.
Third sub Llorente won the header in the build up to the penalty in the 94th minute.

Credit when it comes off.

We drew the sting from them. They huffed & puffed trying to blow the house down in the first half. And had nothing in the tank for the second half, while our roof was still on.
Full credit to Poch today. Had it not been for Eric’s shockingly bad back pass (reminiscent of a Walker brain fart right there) to give them a 2nd minute head start,I reckon we would have won the game easily.

Hugely relieved to have come out of the game with something though, after Salah with his injury time magician’s trick.

Poch got lucky. LFC should have been out of sight by HT, like they were last season.

He ignored why we beat MUFC - no pissing around in defence with Llloris Dier and Sanchez playing tikki takka at a place where a much better Man City defence got absolutely destroyed. We don't need to beat Liverpool at their own game, we just needed to beat them. Play to their weakness - that awful defence.

His subs worked, but by that stage LFC were on the ropes. Similar to Citeh 2 years ago when Lamela came on and created the winner for Eriksen.

Thank feck that Mane didnt put Salah through on 62 for another one on one that would have left us with a mountain to climb.

Our 2nd half performance proved that we are better and fitter than them, and thats without 4 first choice starters. Over the course of the season, I'm still very confident that we'll finish above them. But yesterday was a real opportunity missed Poch. Don;t be so bloody stubborn. You were really asking for a repeat of the 0-2 last season, and you lucked out big time.

do agree Poch does have blind faith in playing short goalkicks against pressing forwards, yes Hugh's kicking is his weak point (something he should have worked on over the years in training)
for me its about mixing it up, some games you can play short all the time, others we need to fill midfield and win the long goal kicks
thinking about it, maybe Poch can't see Erikson and Son winning or even challenging headers from goalkicks
