Manager Mauricio Pochettino

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

annoyed at his comments after the game. Say the usual crap "we are building, we are learning, its a long term project" blah blah blah. But at a crucial moment when the team are already down and could be 2 points from chelsea going into the watford game, you DO NOT say something that distracts the team. It isnt any different from the walker rumours coming out last season. or toby ones this year. Once stories come out, heads are turned. When its a player, fine you can leave them out of the team. When its the main man, the manager, then its going to distract the WHOLE team. why should any of them agree contract extensions until the manager commits or comes out and says he is staying and is it also going to affect our league form which was already at risk with a disappointing result.

Poch made two mistakes.

One is he was 'soft' picking the reserve keeper in a big game, just because he played in all the other rounds (Spurs nearly got knocked out by Rochdale coz of Vorm). That is weakness in my book.

Second is, players play in the same manner as the manager. Klop is like a demented demon, so Liverpool fight 100% and give all - Mourinho will tell his own players off in the match (let alone afterwards) so United give more - Conte is another nutter and Chelsea fight for the
win - Wenger is the worst behaved manager in the world even tho the press love him, and Woolwich play for fouls against intimidated officials.

Poch does barely nothing, never questions biased refereeing, rotten reporting, he saw Cahill kick Harry Kane in the back on the floor in front of him and no reaction, and his laid-back attitude is how Tottenham play. He does not demand a higher performance from the team and therefore they only motivate themselves.

That is Poch's worst trait, his lack of motivation and doesn't demand anything from his team.

Otherwise he has great tactical ideas, although I would have 2 strikers and wingers, but I'm just a gnome....

Poch's comments about playing the kids in next year's F A Cup if true and he actually does would reverse my support and I would call for him to go. I have repeatedly stated over the years if we want to be considered a big club then we need to compete in all competitions. Poch has done that this year and although he changed the team in the earlier rounds that was to play established stars and he played what he considered the strongest team in the Semi.
Play the kids and what sort of attendance would he expect? Lose to the likes of Rochdale and we would be a laughing stock, get a top 6 side and could get slaughtered. What would the players think as at the moment the only trophy's we can win are F A Cup and League cup as we are not good enough to win Premier league (32 points behind) or CL.
I hope he is not serious but this is the 2nd comment this weekend which is very strange.
Mauricio Pochettino may play Tottenham kids in next season's FA Cup | Daily Mail Online

Sounding like Jose...ridiculous whining, what does he actually expect in the media? Praise for getting knocked out of a cup he has constantly belittled?

The lack of silverware thing is getting to him, yet he wants to play the youth team so there will be less critique when we lose.
Stupid comments

Poch seems to be losing the plot.

Though I admire his belief that we can win the Premier League and Champions League.

He's quite simply the modern day football manager. That's all.

For the first time there does seem to be rumblings across our fan base questioning his position.

Personally, considering the financial restrictions he's forced to work under, I think he is still far and away the best man for the job

My worry is he may feel he's taken us as far as he can and jump ship before his stock starts to fall.

They are nowhere near the same. Two title challenges in 2 seasons? Redknapp didn't achieve that. He was our 2nd best manager of recent time. Thats all

Spurs were in a title challenge in 2012 though. Very much so, Balloteli dented it and England derailed us in the final run in. Under Harry it was 4,5,4 for league placings in full seasons. Under Poch it’s been 5,3,2 and ? - hardly a massive gulf, but I have already said what I have said earlier that the 3 and 2 are superior achievements.

2011-2012 we were 4th and a season later 5th that's hardly a title challenge. Lets face it, we should have got 2nd place when Leicester won it and had our best league season the following season where that points total wins the league in the previous 8 seasons. And if we get 4th this year playing away for a whole season then that is better then any of harry's seasons. If we do better then 4th this season then its not even a debate

4th in the league with 4 games to go, game in hand on team immediately above us. Said team has to play a team apparently vying for 4th, that team is 5 points behind us. That means points dropped for one or both teams above and below us. We have lost one league game this calendar year, and that was against the runaway champions. We are Probably the in form league team bar Citeh.

CHILL THE FUCK OUT.

Having played the entire season at home at Wembley.

It’s actually been a good season, all things considered.

For those who are comparing Hary to Poch. Apart from league positions H achieved slightly more: 2 Cup SFs, 1 cup final and CL quarter final while P achieved 2SFs, 1 final and CL last 16.

Not kept right up to date with all the comments here, but I will just add...
as disappointing the last 3-4 games have been, especially the way we timidly went out the cup, Pochettino I would hope will be here for a long time yet.
We are improving on many fronts but without oil money and how football is, there will be bumps in the road.
Its not like a graph and the line goes up diagonally in a perfect improvement.

I'm just also wondering if the media has him somewhat rattled or frustrated.
So much of our coverage including players is spiteful and negative.
Must be difficult, all those pundits / journalists constantly pissing on your hard work and not really understanding it.

I like Poch and everything he's achieved at Tottenham . My only reservation and this is personal. I like a coach with an edge, a little attitude. Poch's laid back approach seem to bring results but could we achieve more, if he played the mind games with the media or other teams. JM deflects all media pressure onto him, gets the everyone talking about him, makes himself look stupid at times but takes all the pressure off the team. Klopp talks with passion and aggression, whether he's right or wrong. I would love to see Poch become the great coach we all want him to become and with THFC.

People can't change their character. Simple as really.

Pochettino however, needs to just find that last ounce that differentiates from quality coach/manager alone to winner as well.

Whatever we think of the man, he has not yet shown he can oversee a winning team.

I dismiss what Leicester did as one-off freakishness but those managers of the top 6 clubs, aside from Pochettino have been winners.

Other than City this season we have been the equal of all of them but will again have no silverware to at least evidence our quality.

It is not failure and we are getting ever closer but only if in those crucial moments he can make the right decisions.

That's all I want to see.

I feel Poch's comments are lost in translation a little. He is being sarcastic towards the media. He is trying to counter their expectations of what they believe he should be achieving. He is showing signs of frustration and a little anger -I hope he keeps the anger and transfer it into the team for next season.
