I have no particular vendetta against Poch, but it constantly frustrated the shit out of me the way week after week he would fail to dismiss tabloid speculation about the Man Utd job or the Real Madrid job.
You do understand that this kept external pressure on Levy, right? You understand how this works, right? How else does he hold DL's feet to the fire?

Critical thought, man!

I'm loyal to my own principles. And expect others to be (to their own, not mine).
That's platitudinous BS and not an answer to my question. You are expecting 'loyalty' from from Poch to an organization that wasn't loyal to him. So, in light of this new post, would your principles compel you to be loyal to an organization that was disloyal to you?

Oh yeah, did a real good job of making Levy do his bidding didn't it...

2018 says hi...

I don't give a fuck what the effect of it was but I do understand what the intent of it was and am not out here whining about it because I don't or can't understand it all. But you are? So perhaps pithy responses aren't the best way forward for you...as they don't get you any further to understanding things.

If I thought that was his plan then I'd have been more appreciative of it, but I don't. Likewise I don't think his musings about walking away after the CL final were we to win were some great Jedi mind trick...

I think he was an alright coach who began to get high off of the smell of his own farts after a while and ultimately had Utd or Madrid actually made a play for him he would've wanted out.

You don't have some magical understanding of things that I'm lacking, you simply have your own perception and belief, and from where I'm sitting your views couldn't be more flawed.

And you'd be wrong on both accounts...

No, and that's the truly fucking disappointing part of it all. I freely admit and should hope that my understanding of things isn't something magical or special. The problem is your posts and many others in this thread and on this board mark them (my understandings) out as so. And that truly is a problem...that basic PR and negotiating through the media has an adult flummoxed. And that adult is apparently still sitting in a place of certitude of their position.

Americans called Todd always make me chuckle.

It’s getting very shrill in here.

I am genuinely ok for Poch to Chelsea. Not just because shit like that rarely gets me bent out of shape (the notion of a player or coach owing us loyalty beyond his contract with us), I wouldn’t care if he went to Woolwich.

But mostly because although I think he’s a good coach, I didn’t think he was the fucking Messiah.

I really loved the first 2 1/2 years, young players who weren’t world class but playing with intensity, was a couple of my favourite handful of seasons in the 50 I’ve been supporting spurs. So don’t begrudge whatever he does next.

But even in the good years there were stupid mistakes that cost us in big moments. And the last 2 years was garbage. Even if we believe the notion that nothing was his fault and everything was Levy’s, Poch played a bad hand very badly.

Kept picking “experienced” dildos that were completely incompatible with his ethos, instead of going back to young legs who’d give him some vim back, made poor use of resources. People whine about Levy not selling, but Poch was the one who got his knickers in a twist about selling shitcunts like Alli, Rose and Dier for huge fees, when the likes of Utd would have been stupid enough to pay.

Levy had fuck all to do with Son being played at LWB in a semi final, Townsend in a final, “paid to train but not play” Sissoko every week for two years, including in a CL final in a midfield two against one of the most efficient midfield 3’s in Europe.

He did some great things and he did some shit things.

There’s some great ingredients at Chelsea now that may well suit him, lots of young legs with energy, a deluxe Alli in Havertz, a fabulous RB, the makings of a midfield and Nkunku arriving, who will be the answer to a lot of Chelsea’s scoring issues. He’ll also get a window before he starts and pre season.

I fully expect Chelsea to be much better next season, but I would if Tuchel or Potter had stayed and been given the same window and pre season to figure out the mess.

He did mostly excellent things and an all round excellent job and then a few silly things which you can say of essentially every manager ever, including Pep Guardiola who is the best of the lot. And there was nothing wrong with some of those decisions, like Sissoko in a final, given the alternatives he had available. That being the same season he had Dembele flogged with no replacement.

And we had no young talent at the time, hence continuing to pick old players. Where the young players are at now shows he was right not to pick them. I mean, who exactly would you have liked Pochettino to turn to in the youth ranks at the time? And as for him being against player sales, maybe because he (justifiably) didn't believe the club would re-invest adequately to replace them? Just a thought..

Nothing before or after Poch has come close to how good we were under him. So yes, he's the Messiah in the context of Tottenham Hotspur and what we realistically expect. And no, some bad decisions in one off games isn't going to change that.

I'm not flummoxed in the least, I don't think it was part of any elaborate game at all, him going to Chelsea demonstrates perfectly clearly that his relationship with Spurs and our fans isn't anything like the love affair that many are desperate for it to be.

If it was him playing the media for a higher purpose, then he was fucking garbage at it and should've dropped it as soon as it became obvious it wasn't achieving anything and tried a different approach.

Conte did it, didn't get what he wanted and had the decency to go nuclear and get out, Poch was happy to pocket a pay rise...
