I'm a bit surprised that nobody's mentioned the bloke in the cafe yet.

Put this on another thread but think it needs to be said here too.

Sorry to break it to anyone who is still dreaming of a Poch return but its never happening under Levy. I see the bookies have him priced up 11/2, but in my head its at least a 100/1 shot. Let me explain why.

It was an absolute penalty kick to bring back Poch in the Summer of 2023. The fans were singing his name for the last 10 games of the season. He was the obvious candidate and wanted to return. He was available and probably would have convinced Kane to stay. The stars had aligned. It was a no brainer! Yet we didn't bring him in.... Whats changed in the last 2 years for Levy to change his mind? Poch went to Chelsea and did his reputation no good there. He's also now managing another team so its more complicated/expensive to get him. There isn't a hope of Levy even considering him for an interview. If he didn't bring him in during the Summer of 2023 then he never will!

We all love to dream of happy endings but this is just a non-runner. It is never happening. Sorry to break it to anyone who genuinely thinks there is a chance!

Yep that’s what I’ve been saying. He didn’t do it then when it was a free hit, he’s not going to do it now and he’s just as desperate then. He’ll go for Iraola, that’s the standard levy move.

There are some rumours that the blockers for a Poch return are other people at board level who have Levy's ear. So probably Donna Cullen and other people of her standing. People that did not like how much power that Poch had accumulated and that he had Levy's ear.

I wonder how much of that is true. Based on the picture Poch and Dan clearly have no issue interacting with each other.

Hypothetically what would Poch do with this team for chavs game?

I'm thinking
Vic
Spence
Romero
Micky
Destiny
Gray
Bergvall
Maddison
Kulu
Solanke
Son

Full backs only go up one at a time and overlap forwards to create space or whip in a cross. Gray drop in to a back 3 like dier used to at the start when one fb goes up. Quick breaks. Coordinated press not just dom chasing shadows. Move it quickly. Show some fight.

Instead it will be the opposite of all that while ange stands there with his arms folded occasionally shaking his head.

I was watching a TV series last night (Matlock, with Kathy Bates, s'okay), anyway, two characters get back together having split up. The bloke is advised to fully sort out the issues that had led to the break-up in the first place in order that they don't come back later to haunt the couple.

Pretty straightforward advice maybe, but it's pertinent here. Whatever the issues on both sides between Pochettino and Levy, and we can only speculate as to what they were, they need to be completely ironed out, with both men acknowledging what they did wrong.

This cheap cliché was brought to you by Agony Aunts"R"Us, for all your intractable relationship problem needs.

I was thinking something similar earlier on top of it being 5 years ago that they last worked together. Things change. People change. I’m not the same person I was 5 years ago and I bet most people posting on here aren’t either. It’s no different for them. The fact they are openly meeting is good. It’s good for the club. Even if they aren’t going to be in a working relationship again they are talking about football for sure. About clubs. About players. Information that’s going to help us.

I do think the club probably have to leak out via journalists that they are behind Ange now though. The photo being left out there with no comment is damaging to everyone. If we don’t get that then I think the Australian is done. As soon as now, who knows.

Fair enough mate. Not sure what I said to deserve this reply or maybe you just didn't want to hear the truth.
Ok ;

Well it was dressed up as seminal insights unconsidered or possibly, to the multitudes, not revealed that could offer undeniable info as to why Levy wouldn’t reemploy Poch. What it was, was info already open to us that we’ve already formed our own opinions, indeed it turned out it was just your opinion.

FWIW my opinion is that Poch will always want to return and with the likely scenario of other managers consistently failing under levy’s charge there will always be an opportunity for his return.

What might scupper that is the next manager being an unmitigated success and holding fort a good number of years …… something we can all currently and collectively only dream about
