Manager Mauricio Pochettino

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I think his biggest problem is the two tier squad he is running. If you are not in his thoughts you play midweek, if you are in the gang you play weekends. The players and the squad must be split. Pick your best 16, and use them every week with the odd change for rotation and rest. Harry Kane should have started at the weekend, he had earned his place with a fantastic performance in midweek, but it was back to the tried and failed.Players will be selected tonight because it's a midweek cup game, and not because they are our strongest side.
The few that had a good game Sunday should be retained and anyone who plays well tonight gets in against Villa.
Everyone said Soldardo had his best game against City and then got rewarded by being benched in midweek, there is no consistency, and the players are not getting a run

Considering we haven't had a manager last a minimum of four seasons since Keith Burkinshaw, perhaps we should cut the bloke some slack and hope that, after only 9 league matches, with a number of not good enough players, he will eventually be able to succeed.

Would the players be good enough if we were winning?

I do agree with what you're saying but he does have to look ahead at the rest of the season too.

With the Prem, FA Cup, League cup and Europa he has to chop and change a lot. This is the time of te year that we can afford to maybe drop some points because everyone will do so. We want to be hitting top form when we are also in the important stages of the cup.

Fergie was know to map out his season as if they'd reach the final of every cup. As the manager you need to think ahead it isn't as simple as a day to day thing.

In fact, I rescind that comment. Yes, many of these players might well find their feet and MP might well have them playing entertaining football by all means. I just suspect that a handful of players aren't good enough.

After the Newcastle match, Poch is reported as saying we need to be stronger mentally but he's "not bothered" about our form as we've plenty of time.

I appreciate that his English isn't great but not being bothered, at any level, is not likely to get people on his side.

Apparently after the Brighton game Poch has said the rotation will continue.

What this says to me is Adebayor will continue to be played and not score, while on-form Kane continues to be used off the bench. Greeaaat.

Adebayor should be in the Europa / Cup 'B Team' and not the Prem starter when he hasn't earned it.

Whereas a lot of people have started sharpening their knives, I'm actually growing fonder of the man. Oh sure, our league form leaves quite a lot to desire, but from his appearances on the touchline I don't think the man is fooling himself about the enormity of the task at hand.

He could be jumping for joy at every goal scored like AVB and Timmeh, but instead what we've seen on the screen when goals have been scored is a very reserved figure. More often he's been openly disappointed with the football that he's witnessed.

If the choice is between tapping a new coach every 6 months or giving plenty of time to someone that obviously notices a lot of problems to be ironed out, I'll place my faith in the latter.

I do wish he'd give Soldado (or Kane) a run of starts in the league. As terrible as he's been in front of goal, he's still creating more chances than Adebayor, and maybe Ade losing the starting spot for 5 or 6 games will put the fire back into his belly. He always performs better when he feels like he's got something to prove or he's got to regain the starting spot.

He will never have a chance. Like AVB he will request the players he wants. It will go up to the board and the DoF and Danny Boy will simply not get who he wants. He's not upto the job & he's not going to get the help he needs to fix anything.

I'm sick an tired of hearing this nonsense about AVB not getting the players he wants.

1. AVB asked to be head coach and that role is almost completely football related. Not transfer or player related.
2. In order to get some control over players AVB requested to have Baldini brought in. Which happened and we then proceeded to buy the players Baldini wanted (i.e AVBs supposed players).
3. What players did AVB want? Willian? Levy had probably done all he could for that transfer but the prick went to Chelsea for a wage package we simply couldn't justify.
4. In all the time AVB was here I don't think I recall him ever publicly requesting a player so I don't see how you know which are his and which aren't.
5. We got a "top quality" striker in Soldado and in my eyes AVBs system is the sole cause of his failure in the PL.
6. We bought a 30m player with loads of potential and 15 Serie A goals at 20 years old. What manager in the world didn't want Lamela at that time?
7. In all of AVBs time here not once did we look like we were improving. Bale saved his ass on countless occasions. At least with Poch we're getting some variety in who is scoring.

Does everyone remember before the season there was a thread or at least a big chunk of a thread that was dedicated to an acceptable minimum finish? There was even a poll. Pretty sure I remember the massive majority of you saying lower than 7th and he needs to go. We're in the bottom half of the table right now with zero light at the end of the tunnel. I'm not saying he needs to be sacked, because that's the absolute worst decision they could make right now. But, I can absolutely understand where people's utter frustration stems from. The loss today was VERY avoidable and I certainly place that on the shoulders of Pochettino.

I think that the fiasco with Kane in goal partially had Poch shook in terms of why he took so long to make his substitutions. I don't know if Townsend took a knock in practice or what, but why he wasn't there as a sub is absolutely stunning. Not that I'm a huge fan, but he certainly brings more to the party than Lennon. Right after the 60th minute I was saying he needs to bring on Kane and shift to a 4-4-2.

There were lapses of judgement both on and off the pitch.
Yeah and West Ham are 4th. Is it safe to say that's where they will finish? No.

Come on people. This happens every year. Anyone remember when Villa were completely killing it up until Christmas and then bam. Turns to shit. Same can be said for the opposite.

Poch needs time regardless of results. Once we continue to see improvements in aspects of our game I am happy with him as our manager. If and when we begin to stagnate as a team. I.e under AVB I'll start to question his ability to manager Tottenham.

I agree to a point but it does look as though we've a disconnect between the desired playing style of our last two "proper" managers and the personnel recruited.

Good point about the variety under Poch but again, to a point. We still have the problem of strikers not scoring enough in league games.

Amen!

Poch does know what he is doing.
Maybe it's a case that other coaches now understand his ideas and easerly counter. He is no more an unknown enigma . He needs to develope his experiance and taticle ideas at the same time as building the team.
I stil believe .
