He’s fantastic. The question marks over his quality and old record were weird. He was the best footballer at two world cups. Loads of unbelievable goals. Hat-trick in a World Cup final. In Europe he scored goals against basically everyone - city, Madrid, Bayern, Barcelona.
Yeah he was in Ligue 1. You can ignore his fantastic record there if you want. But whenever he stepped out of that arena he was devastating more often than not.
There’s clearly been some big drop off in the last couple of seasons for whatever reason. He was awful against Liverpool, the worst I’ve ever seen him. Just looked a total shadow of himself.
Ego, work rate, passion for the game… I dunno what it is. Still looks rapid so it isn’t physical. Just half arsing games.
