Player Micky van de Ven

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Certainly exceeded my expectations of a good CB already.

I'd imagine those who were saying in the transfer window 'only Tapsoba is an acceptable CB and if we get Van de Ven he needs to be on the bench to mature' might be suffering from selective amnesia at this point !

Only played a handful of games for Spurs but I'm struggling to think of many players who have impressed more in such a short time. And at age 22 has potential to improve !

I was thinking he was going to be an exciting prospect. Had no idea he’d step up like this.

Thankfully we have another 3 that have also been mighty impressive having joined us this summer. :)

Agreed I noticed at the time and thought the window a 7/10 at the time couldn't understand the 4/10 type merchants.

Add in Bissouma and Sarr looking light years better than 12 months ago, its really been a huge transformation from last season to this. Especially for the pundits who said we'd sink to bottom half of the table without Kane

Vicario, Van de Ven, Udogie, Maddison ….all new players. Add Bissouma and Sarr who are new to the team really then Porro who is reborn as a right back. That’s virtually 7 new players in our first team. They way they have gelled to date is outstanding. A few more additions and this team is going to be incredible.

Looks like a still from The Cabin In The Woods....

“To me, he looks a bit wooden. I am just saying what I see. I don’t know a lot about him and, hopefully, he is a lot better than I think. He is very wooden on the ball. Slow on the turn."

Tim Sherwood, August 2023

The funniest thing about his pace is that you can see the attackers souls being torn to shreds when they see that they cannot come close to VDV in a race. It's hilarious watching them give up.
That was actually a defender Micky van de Bolt was up against  Namely, Chelski's Malo Gusto; who is known to be a fast player.
Sofifa really need to update its stats though:

Van de ven
Acceleration: 77
Sprint speed: 91

Malo Gusto
Acceleration: 86
Sprint speed: 90

That's true. Playing as a wide attacking player myself, it really takes your options away when you're completely done for pace. Sadly for me, these days that seems to be every single game.

Gusto already broken before Chelsea even step out at our stadium.

Young kid who’s career at RB has been about his pace up and down the flank. Now he’s afraid to use his main weapon against us because he’s afraid of being exposed for not being as quick as a CB.

Has been a consistent theme.

The funny thing is they keep trying it before quickly realizing who they're up against.

Luton did it again and again to no avail. Initiate footrace, give up, try again. I think a lot of forwards are too used to relying on their pace to change it up when they come up against him.
