It doesn't work like that.....unless the defence plays deep for the whole 90 plus minutes of a game at some point the defence will push up, there will be space behind and the defenders will have to cover it.
Imo hamstring problems are the worst type of injuries for footballers. Once they start recurring it becomes not only a physical issue but a mental one too. The player will always be fearful of going full throttle when sprinting

Any way I agree we need another CB signed on 1st January but we also need to look at why we are getting so many injured players - maybe Ange high octane football and training can’t work as is in the PL , surely though we monitor our players through games and training and we should be tweaking if needed , we aren’t even through the busy festive period yet and we are literally walking wounded, I get some injuries can’t be avoided and it’s just bad luck but we was saying the same last season
Well yeah. We're thin on the ground as it is. Which is what caused Ange to roll the dice on both of them which has backfired spectacularly.
It's just a shitshow all round.
Whilst I know next to nothing about modern football tactics; I think there’s an argument to be made that he’s currently our most “ important “ player. Which means we need him to play : But also need to take very good care of him and let him rehabilitate to a point he’s not going off 79 mins into his return. With the potential for missing even further games .

Like when Hugo and Poch overruled the doctor to let Hugo play on despite having a concussion as it turned out (I think that was during Poch, possibly Sherwood if it was before him). And Mourinho had multiple bust ups with the doctors at Chelsea in regards to players being ready or not to play.
Moronic management and actually really dangerous to the careers of these players. I wouldn't want to hang around if I thought a coach was endangering my future as a player.
Yeah, I get it. The alternatives are poor. The situation is dire. But you can't risk the health of players and rush them back to win a few points. Ultimately we haven't even done that, we've lost anyway and injured them some more.

The damage is already done. I wanted that before all these CB injuries. The workload would be shared and less taxing on the individuals.
