And someone we really need to tie down long term. If VDV ever leaves it has to be to Madrid for a record fee.

Lol I know Levy has gone so people may be fancying getting a better deals from us now but even I could negotiate more than £70milion for VDV!
I was thinking £70m would be absolute top end for a CB. Then I remembered United paid Leicester £80m for Harry Maguire.Lol I know Levy has gone so people may be fancying getting a better deals from us now but even I could negotiate more than £70milion for VDV!
What a joke figure.
There are two possible outcomes here, one of which is Micky struggling with hamstring problems again this season under Frank in which case Madrid won't want him, or he makes it through the season fit in which case he's worth WAY more than that.

I think that will depend on whether he can stay injury free for long enough. If he gets more hamstring injuries this season that will put off potential suitorsAnd someone we really need to tie down long term. If VDV ever leaves it has to be to Madrid for a record fee.
I thought of Guehi who was headed to Liverpool for £35m and thinking that £70m is really high but I don't know.
Healthy Micky is worth more to the club than £70m which is worrisome cause I think Real might just come knocking at that price. Hamstring injury riddled Micky for £70m is a heck of a deal. It would depend what is coming down the road to replace him.
We offered £70m last Jan and it was rejected.Guehi transfer fee is low because he’s got a year left on his deal.
Last year would have been 80m easy
Yeah I feel for him, how the hell can anyone struggle through life on two and a half million a yearGod, the wages we pay are awful (relatively speaking of course).
Aaron Lennon said as much the other day when commenting on Levy's exit.
I certainly don't want to sell him. But we definitely need to ensure that if we do its only to Madrid at a record fee...not Liverpool or United snaking their way in because he's on a short and light contract.I think that will depend on whether he can stay injury free for long enough. Madrid unsettling a player again…..surprise surprise.Lol I know Levy has gone so people may be fancying getting a better deals from us now but even I could negotiate more than £70milion for VDV!

We very much have another Vertonghen Alderweirald pairing on our hands. We need to make sure we have them for as long as we can so we can challenge with the big boys as our midfield and forwards grow into the same quality. 2-4 years minimum ideally.
We also need to be looking to ensure we have succession planning in place for if/when they leave for a Madrid esque exit. We can't have another Dier starting for years in between.
Mate, half that. 50% tax is a killerYeah I feel for him, how the hell can anyone struggle through life on two and a half million a year

We will give him a new contract. He looks like he loves it here. He knows how popular he is with us and is a future captain.I certainly don't want to sell him. Konate and Huijsen will be their starting CBs next season. So, yeah, defo his agent getting to work.1. Madrid don’t buy players these days, they wait for contracts to wind down then hide the huge sign on fees away from the football club to circumvent PSR.
2. These rumours are more likely VDVs agent getting him a new contract.
3. Give the man a new fucking contract FFS. His clearance won us a trophy and he’s going to mature into one of the best CBs in the world.
