Player Micky van de Ven

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Frank's been at the club a few months.

Any changes to players established positions may evolve over time or necessity.

The key, regardless of where whoever players is their performance.

I don't think moving Van Der Ven to left back, in an arguably more physically demanding role is one that particularly makes any sense, or likely to be one that doesn't cause him injury..

It’s not more demanding - you run more l, but less short sprints from standing positions

Baffles me why Frank doesn't play him at LB, it's a genuine cheat code to get up the pitch
Yeah that's all well and good when he has the ball in a position to motor up the side, but in positions where he has to receive the ball under pressure and turn with it or play it first time, I don't think he would be as comfortable as you might assume. He's a good footballer but his weaknesses would become much more glaring in a position such as LB in the premier league where a lot of teams like to press high and cause stress in that area of the pitch.

Fairs, didn't think of this actually.

I think he can utilise him at LB more at times though, I don't think Spence playing on his right foot with another player who is not going to hug the wing is any more beneficial than VDV playing on the left even if he does struggle in his footwork.

he’s really the perfect LCB in a back 3. Similar to Vertonghen in that way. More license to go forward at times. I was interested in seeing this more. Doesn’t have to be more defensive.

yeah I was really hoping to see this too, particularly as Frank used 3 CB's a fair bit at Brentford.

It would release Udogie and Porro to provide the width, given all our wingers are mostly crap except Kudus and he cuts in all the time anyway. We'd also then need 2 (preferably 3) mobile/intelligent midfielders to make the system work, and thats obviously another problem.

Oh and some forwards who can score.

ahhh shit.

Teams are definitely onto The Big Man now …
There was moment in the ist half, won the ball against the oppo player and was ready to put on the afterburners for sure.
Park was opened up too,but same oppo player pulled him back ,got the blatant foul.(no card)
Def instructed teams now to this ploy.

Suppose it should be a compliment to Mickey
Not many C/Backs taken out of play in own third
when looks like going on a mazy….
