His passing particularly first half and some of his decision making were poor. Needs to keep it simple and focus on the fundaments of good defending. If its me im putting him at LB Spence at right and bringing in one of Danso or Dragusin.

MVDV was indeed poor yesterday. His passing put us into a lot of trouble on several occasions.
Those who talk of Van De Ven in the same breath as those really top grade centre backs are blinded by the bloke's pace, the odd goal here and there, and the Europa goal clearance.
Not as good as either Vertonghen or Alderweireld in my opinion.
I'm one of the loudest cunts on here about VdV, but he's miles off of Vertonghen or Alderweireld in their prime. Not that I'd expect him to compete with either one of them just yet, anyways. He's still got a couple of years to go.
