Player Micky van de Ven

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

We've still got Phillips, Dragusin, Dorrington etc.

Not saying that's the "right" outcome, but we've been a bit over-stacked for CBs and it stands to remain that we're not short. Ideally Drag moves back to Serie A in place of a suitable replacement, but I think consolidating Romero + VdV into one defender that can stay in defence and be fully fit would be an overall improvement for the squad, and look at whether we have a younger CB to rotate/cover
Phillips would probably be a okay squad player. The lad has made 76 appearances and counting for Stoke now over two loan spells and is even captaining them now. At age 20.

Letting Radu go back to Italy and giving Phillips his spot as 4th CB wouldn't be that bad an idea I think.

What we do between now and the end of the season is far more pressing.

What happens after is they easy part..... If the new gaffa wants him then tell him he's wanted. If not sell.

Now and seeing all players focused on 8 strong team performances is the aim. Nothing else.

Beyond that I hope Van De Ven is sold. Rotten egg. No doubt at all. Sours in the same way ethylene ripens.

For him to stay would mean a new contract, which would be very risky.

8 games and I think any strongo and good manager would want him gone if they looked at this season, or ensure they got some serious reassurances.

Fuck me, doesnt take much for our fans to turn on our players -

Players are humans, they are young men, and confidence is not the same as not giving a shit -

You want a player that oozes confidence no matter what - fine - say that - but enough of this shitting on players when they may be struggling and need a lift.

I'm sick of everyone treating these guys like fucking robots.

Don't do an interview with Gary Neville flirting for a move when the club is in a crisis then?

Mickey I think was pressing too hard when he got the red, he's the last one I would accuse of not caring or being toxic. He's a genuine presence and the right kind of one. I would not blame a player for being disillusioned at the point in our season when he made that poor challenge, and I would also not blame him for thinking he was going to have to take the world on his shoulders to save the club.

Poor judgement in a snap decision can happen for any number of reasons. I don't doubt he wants to fight for us and that he needs to be out there every game.

Players are allowed to have moments in life that they aren't their best and to have a way back from it, just like anyone else.

What we see from our players between now and the end of the season will show us their mettle, not any one tackle or moment.

What did he actually say in his interview that gave you the idea that he is trying to flirt for a move?

When he we asked about his 3-5 year ambitions, it was nothing to do with Tottenham it was all personal aims, so it's very clear about what was not said, rather than what was said. Someone who is focused on the club would perhaps talk about building on the Europa League win etc.

We know how these video CVs are supposed to work. It's the same thing Harry Kane did.

Yeah so I don't see how him saying he wants to be the best CB in the world is flirting for a move? He was specifically asked about his development in his own career - you're kinda reaching.

Kane saying he wants to play with De Bruyne is openly flirting.

If everyone was having a circle jerk over him (figuratively, not literally) you'd be here saying what a traitor he is and that he needs to go ;)

100%.

Said it before, some posters put some players above the club they claim to support.

All Van De Ven and other players should be doing is giving their all, regardless.

That's wgat they are paid, some extremely bloody well to do.

Keep their fluttering eyes on their opponents and improving the team.

You can move on the problematic players without damaging the squad in the process, I do think Micky looks mentally checked out at the moment but that’s really been more of an issue this season. In his first two seasons he was fine so there’s still something to work with there and I think he could be brought back onside fairly easily.

What I don’t think is very smart is getting rid of two of your best players in the same window.
I wouldn’t want to move him on without trying the left back or left wing back angle. Honestly think he could be amazing there

Too right players only join United and Chelsea when they’re in disarray and out of Europe. COYS!

The difference is both of those sides prove they do want to be nearer the top than the lower leagues.
Time and again they prove it.
They pay enormous fees AND enormous wages. Every year.
They don't tolerate mediocrity because they can make their money on Beyonce.

Whats the proof? Retaining a manager who paid £80m for Antony then sack him 3 months later aftet he spent another £170m on players who aren’t used by the incoming manager or the club agreeing £55m for Jamie Gittens and another £58m for Garnacho.

Yeah
