Player Mikey Moore

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Moore on the left, Gassama moved to the right
Hopefully this is what they do moving forward.

That was my first time watching them for a sustained period, Gassama's technical level is crap, but he's really active and puts himself about, you would think swapping flanks wouldn't impact him hugely.

Mikey looked like their only player with any kind of range of pass at all. He wasn't great, but nobody else looked like playing creative attacking football.

Absolute poor decision sending Moore there needs to be starting games
League 1 or Championship loan would've been correct choice imo
Is Scottish football always this bad? I am not even sure this is league 1 quality.
I chuckled at the juxtaposition of these two

No idea what Rangers thought they were getting when they hired Russell Martin
They thought they were getting Ange. Who lost 3 of his first 6 league games in charge at Celtic, but won the other three 6-0, 6-0, and 3-0.

Old Firm next weekend. Last chance saloon?

A man with two brains?

This is bad, really really bad.

Like horrible, 0/10 outcome.

On top of it all Rangers fans on twitter think he’s shite. “Most of the players were rotten today but Mikey Moore when he came on was terrible, hasnt offered anything in any of his games yet and we moved Gassama to his weak side to get him on”

Mikey wanted this move, it's on him to show his quality.

Rangers fans are just volcanically pissed atm, and I can't blame them, they were crap today and already have Everest to climb in the league.

It can all change next week though, and I'm satisfied by what I saw today that Mikey is too good not to be playing for them.

The question is, if he can't get in the team, is he actually that good?

We see it time and time again with our young players, hyped up to the heavens.

If he can't get into that Rangers side, it's a concern.

He has plenty of time, Kane was a relatively late bloomer. There's always that issue as well where the manager needs to balance playing kids with getting results.
Kane was an anomaly… people have got to stop doing this

I know it drives me mad. They do it with every young player not just Moore, it’s always comparing them to Kane, Salah, Kante but ignoring the 10 000 other talented young players that failed to get anywhere near that level.

If the loan adds a bit of realism to Moore’s current level that’s not a bad thing. It might help him too. Learning from adversity and all that.

Dorrington was apparently awful at Aberdeen for a while now he is a main player for them. A tough loan is good for a player. Donley also struggled at Orient for a time.

I hate R*ngers with a passion. But I hope this still works out well for MM. He’s someone I’ve watched in person for a few years. I can see him scoring in the OF next week. Celtic are shit too. And wankers too just to be clear.

Stand Free!

Chuckling is good for you babe :ange-arms:

Rangers are a big club with a very passionate support but a flair player like Moore just isn't made for their log throwing type of football. He would have been much better off playing for an attack minded team in the Championship.

Rangers under Martin aren’t a long throw, long ball type of outfit, they’re a slow, methodical, look to move the opposition about and pick and poke for openings crew. I’ve noted numerous occasions where they’ve had the opportunity to break only to intentionally slow things down and recycle the ball.

The issue with that in Scottish football is that you’re playing right into team’s hands, who when given the opportunity to get 10 men behind the ball will take it with both hands and cling on for dear life. It also allows them to press more aggressively from goal kicks and restarts to disrupt Rangers build up and win the ball high, because the threat of quick counters against them is diminished.

I just don’t see it working for Martin like it did at Southampton in the Championship, which is a more even playing field against opposition whose first thought isn’t always to stifle. Ange’s football at Celtic was much different with a breakneck tempo and fast wingers creating multiple chances. They overpowered teams, whereas Rangers have been the ones being bullied in their first 3 games.

A bit off topic, but I also don’t think they’ve been shopping in the right market, which has largely been Championship/League One. That’s an inflated market and pretty overrated IMO. Rothwell for example doesn’t look anywhere near the level required for a team with UCL ambitions. There are numerous other examples from recent years: Kieran Dowell, Ben Davies, Max Aarons, Tom Lawrence, Todd Cantwell . All Championship level who have looked pish.

As for Mikey, it’s going to be more of a test than people probably assumed it’d be. Because despite the poor quality of the league, he’ll not be playing against other kids. Take St. Mirren on Sunday, which is a well-drilled team of hammer throwers where about 9 out of 11 of them are at least 6’2 tall. It’s going to be sink or swim and hopefully he can show his quality (probably under a different manager and system before too long).

Orient fans said the same of Donley at first, after 1/2 a season, he was their best player. It can just take time to get used to men's football.

TBF, 4 months ago many on this forum were convinced we should get rid of Richarlison, Solanke, Son, etc. as they were just taking minutes away from Moore, Donley, Lankshear, Devine, Gray, etc.

People routinely underestimate how difficult it is to make it to the top in football, and just how massive the gulf between a championship player, a PL player, a top 6 player, and a CL player really is.

Tbh I’ve never understood the hype with Moore. Maybe it’s because it’s been so long before we’ve any half decent player come through the academy that we are clutching to straws.

Biggest glaring weakness is that he just doesn’t seem to have that snap or speed about his game. You can be technically good, but unless you have the speed of foot or body to escape a player or hold someone off then it’s a tough tough road ahead
