Player Mikey Moore

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Just for the sake of discussion, if Spurs had to use Moore this season and not loan him out what is his absolute upside? What's the most minutes and production you could see him getting?
Very difficult to say at his age. Not every player progresses at the same rate.

He's remarkably developed for his age and has the talent to be a top player, but he's still only 17 and looked overwhelmed a lot last year. Wasn't good enough to be starting for us regularly, but his ability level and growing experience means that can change on a dime (as it did for Bergvall last year, the switch flipped).

Mason and WBA just kinda feels right to me, but that could both be too high or too low. Obviously contract talks are happening, and I'm sure the immediate plans will be part of that discussion too.

No idea.

I didn't see a player ready for EPL starts last season.

.........Bugger of it though was that his poor health robbed him of the Europa gametime that would have helped him immensely.

We can't offer that this season.

League 1 loan somewhere close-ish to home first where he'll play regularly as part of the deal until January, then try for a Championship loan or something...if he's playing regularly in League 1, there should be teams falling over themselves to sign him for the end of the season a division above.

Pretty sure we're not in a position to let him go due to our shortage of club trained players.
He's List B for UEFA anyway because of his age, and will be for the next four years. Gray and Bergvall will make it to the club-trained slots before Mikey will.

The only player under contract who qualifies for one of the four club-trained positions in the 25-man UEFA squad is Brandon Austin.

It's kind of pathetic really.

Is it 4 or 3? I thought the ruling was that they had to be at the club for 3 years before his 21st birthday, so he should qualify as club trained by the time he reaches 20 no?

I don't think he is anywhere near ready for regular prem football

Needs a few good loans
hes not explosive enough. hes going to have to get a lot more power in his body to play top level mens football without that raw explosiveness that most wide players have. hell be a grealish type of wide player if any.

hard to play in the prem out wide if you dont have raw pace and that burst to get away from players.

So there’s 2 different things:
- your squad of 25 which needs a minimum of 4 club trained and 4 homegrown players. Club trained players are those who have been at the club for 3 years before they’re 21 (so Gray & Berg will be in this category by the time they hit 21).
- this can be supplemented by list B which is your u21s. However u21s only count if they’ve been at the club for 2 years. So in our case, Gray, Bergvall, Takai, Vuskovic and some others who joined since 2023 and are u21 would have to be counted within the 25 were we to use them in the CL.

There is a bit of a false narrative that you NEED 4 club trained players, you don’t. But currently we only have Austin which means effectively our CL squad can only be 22 players PLUS those that qualify as list B. And given our squad is over 30 players it means some will miss out in its current state.

What it also means is that loaning out u21s who’ve been at the club less than 2 years and therefore can’t be list B might be more appealing than our u21s (such as Mikey) who have been here longer and therefore can be in the CL squad without reducing our slots for other players.

Personally, I think our players’ development is more important than a single seasons CL campaign. So if it was the case that Frank thought he’d hardly use Moore in the league but wanted to keep him around for the 3/4 easier group games and 2/3 League Cup games, then I’d be more inclined to let him go to WBA and get 20+ starts in competitive football.

I thought he'd only just signed a new contract? Or is it this one and has just dragged out a bit?
At 17 you can only sign a maximum 3 year contract, at 18 you can sign a longer contract. Mikey turns 18 in a month on August 11th so that's when the club will want him signing a new 5/6 year deal. Until then there will probably be another 10 or so 'ITK's claiming they have exclusive/breaking info that he's agreed to sign. Ali Gold already confirmed that some talks have taken place so it's an easy one to run with.

needs good coaching, maybe frank is the man for him. hes got good raw ability, but some of his decision making and positioning was off yesterday. there was times where udogie needed him to be an option and he was not positioned where he needed to be, looks very raw.

if you loan him out you dont know if hes going to get the right tuition.
