It might be past the time for Rangers to be able to register him to play in Europe. I think there's a rule where two players can be changed in January. It's what Postecoglou did in the Europa League last season with Spence.
You get a fresh start for the group stages. Not sure if he can be eligible to play in the qualifying rounds.
They can submit a squad ahead of each stage, too late for the 2nd round 2nd leg, can be added for the 3rd qualifying round if he's there before 31 July.
