Player Mikey Moore

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Gassama looks like he’s made that position his own on the left. He’s quicker and more explosive than Mikey and has already been popping up with goals so he’ll struggle to get him out of the team. I don’t think Mikey is great at right wing. Maybe play him more centrally in the 10 but it’s not going great at the moment. The natives are restless already up there and the atmosphere will turn to poison very soon. If they don’t beat St Mirren at the weekend Martin could be in real trouble. Brugge will batter them in Belgium and Celtic will take them apart the following weekend.

I honestly think we should cancel the loan now for his sake.

Not so sure about that. Dorrington struggled when first at Aberdeen and now is a firm fixture with them. A hard brutal situation is often the making of a player or at least teaches them lessons. Moore is in the deep end with the shit show at Rangers.

Obviously if he doesn’t play much that is different then cancel.

I agree mate,I’m just not sure Martin will play him when they are in the shit. I hope he does get thrown in because it’s the best way for him to learn. The expectation every game is they must win and nothing else is accepted.

That’s a fair point. Alfie was spellbindingly bad in his first few games up here and maybe that was the making of him. He probably thought “Christ, if I’m bad at this level, if got no hope. Better put the afterburners on”. And he improved immeasurably. Hopefully Moore thinks the same.

Worth remembering; if we cancel the loan he can't move anywhere else til Jan.

Why are people saying he should play LW only?

The whole point of learning your trade as young player is to play in different environments, clubs, systems, positions.

Mikey is fully capable of playing multiple positions. He needs to learn how to play RW, AM maybe even second striker.

Problem with making him play LW only is that he learns to be a one trick pony and then it becomes easy for teams to mark him out of games.
You look at some of the best dribblers, part of what makes Messi so good is that he picks the ball up in all areas of the pitch. A defender can't just hold his position and mark him out the game. The fluidity to move across the pitch is something Mikey has to learn.

One of Mike's advantages is that he's a pretty balanced player and can use both feet and take the defender on down the line and also cut inside. He has to develop that across the pitch, that level of unpredictability will turn him into a demon.

It's a nonsense idea to make him into a LW and only a LW.

Rangers are guaranteed at least Europa group stage and with that, 2 cups and a long domestic season ahead, Mikey will get plenty of opportunities. Gassama is fairly young as well and it’s his first season up there, so it’s likely there’ll be rotation due to injuries, drops in form, 2 matches a week, etc.

I know right wing isn’t his best position, but watching last night it’s abundantly clear Mikey needs to improve his final ball. He looks a genuinely exciting player when he runs at a defender, possessing the ability to go either way, but some of those crosses… offt.

Hmm, Rangers best player seems to be the LW. Not great letting this happen. One positive is that he might figure out how to be effective from the right.
Baffling that in football these days players struggle to be effective on their strongest side.

I get that inverted is currently all the rage, but a right footer being put on the right and all of a sudden they become a ghost?
