Yeah...this isn't Lamine Yamal people need to calm the fuck down. Deary me.

There isn’t a single person in this thread or world that thinks he’s Yamal, lol. Nobody is. Yamal will probably be the best player of his generation by a country mile.

People are just using him as a freak example of an early developer, the same as Rooney. Nobody is saying Dowman (or anyone fecking else) is as good as these lads, he’s just mixing it up with seniors and contributing at the age of 16 which is unusual.

Moore and most of our other youth will be similar as that’s normality .. the amount of kids able to transition it to men’s level is tiny and is usually due to extraordinary talent or physical development.

Sometimes it's like people don't actually read the threads before leaping in with a "hot take".

There been a few jumping in here with the "Dowman is nowhere near those guys" comments when that was never the point that was being made in the first place.

Im saying it. I don't care what 'people in the thread claim' all you need do is watch the let's laugh at Gooners latest. Its full of spoons bigging him up. I see a talented young wide forward a few years off ready with all the variables inherent in that profile footballer. I dont think he'll ever get near Yamal for talent like Moore, and million other young players.

But if you want to talk this thread my observation of you ,is your a massive England national team fan and do over sell any mildy promising English player. You are the mirror counter part to Le parisian and I take what you say about your country men with less veracity than your opinions on other aspects or players (both of which I enjoy). This stuff is a curse for young players Rooney and Kane are good examples of nationality blighting them. Honestly the next youth mega star we make I hope like Bale he's Welsh or possibly Mason Meilia.

I’ve literally never said he’s near talent for Yamal lmao, that’s hardly a hot take. Nobody is.

He is clearly exceptional for 16. Not sure how many 16 year olds are coming on and scoring and assisting in the premier league or starting for their teams in fa cup quarter finals. This isn’t a controversial statement, it’s just a fact. You think he’s a few years off but as far as I can tell he’s already better than most of that lots wide players and he’s still a child. He’s broken UEFA and premier league records. Whether you think he’s this or that is opinion, that isn’t.

Rooney had an incredible career so not sure how it hurt him frankly. He broke through early and maybe didn’t hit expected peaks but the likelihood is he just physically was a quick developer. Kane hasn’t been hurt by playing for England at all.

For a 16 year old, Dowman is phenomenal. It's too early to say how good he can and will become exactly. But if he was Spanish or Portuguese, nobody would give a damn about the hype he's getting. I saw him recently against a talented under 19 Portugal side and he almost singlehandedly destroyed them. Once he gets some man strength as he ages, there's absolutely no reason he won't reach the very top if he keeps his feet on the ground and has the bit of luck you always need with injuries.

The Dowman thing is odd he didn't look better than several of our players at given points. So listening to these folk talking about him like he is on Yamals level is freakish.
Sums up kids level football perfectly.
Looking good in the yoof setup doesn't mean anything.
Kids mature at different rates. Some are at the best they'll ever be by 16 which is barely better than a bunch of other 16 year olds who still have a lot of growth left in them plus the ability to improve technically.

He's played against men though for Woolwich and has at times been the best player on the pitch, or the biggest threat.

He definitely didn't look average at kids level, he's been playing up multiple ages at pretty much every stage

Either he did, or he didn't. Which is it?

Well he got 20G/A last season in 15 games in the U18 PL playing up multiple age-groups (would be U15s). He's not even a 1st year scholar until next season. Williams-Barnett at the same age got 3G/A in 7 U18 games but was mostly still down with U16s. Also been fast-tracked by the England youth set-up to play up multiple age-groups, would be an England U17 (2009s), only a day off being an England U16 (2010s) but is playing up in Mikey Moore's age groups (2007s).

Thing is, the thing that will really matter is how he develops physically

Even Messi was physically dominant with his balance and acceleration.

A player can dominate younger age groups by being mature early and technically good. By the time they reach adults football, everyone is technically very good and the physicality is the real leveler.

He’s hardly struggling with the transition. He’s being carefully handled but against Everton scored and assisted and was gliding past senior players, then when he got a start vs Southampton he was by far their most dangerous and progressive player.

He’s currently the guy they’re turning to in order to change football matches at PL and CL level. At 16. Which is fucking mental.

There’s no guarantees, he could stall, could get injured, could get ahead of himself .. but he’s ahead of any normal curve by several years.

Selected games and physically dominating the premier league are different.

Rooney was physically dominating the prem at 16. Dowman isn’t .

Yeah Rooney was a fucking bull at 16. It’s pretty clear he had a huge physical advantage so punched above his age group.

Dowman can mix it up physically but also has space to develop in that regard.

Dowman is very clearly in the process of breaking through - he’s starting cup games, and being turned to as a game changer in league and CL games. That isn’t normal for a 16 year old.

It’s not normal for a 16 year old but also nothing we’ve never seen before.

There’s been talented 16 year olds playing youth football before. He’s not a grown man at 16 like Rooney so it’s still going to depend on what he’s like when he is.

Well he’s now broken premier league, UEFA and CL records in relation to both appearances and goals so it’s not exactly happening weekly, especially not for a team with that level of competition.

Frankly the fucker already looks better by far than Madueke and I wouldn’t be surprised if he replaces Saka next season if he develops a bit .. which would be very far from normal.

That being said, I would absolutely want Moore to start for us if he was playing now, if more than anything to negate boredom.

We'll just have to see where Dowman goes because nothing is a given in youth footie.
Everybody was raving about Nwaneri a couple of years ago - there's a long journey between making a few appearances and properly having an impact.

In fact, if you go back to the cup winning England U21 side of a few years ago, most of that squad have yet to make much of an impact in the senior game.
It's part of the reason that academy football is so addictive, because you're always holding out for the next star but is almost impossible to predict who it will be.
I do think that Moore is the first of a few coming out of the academy that have a really good chance of making a mark though and I cannot wait to see him regularly play for us.
