The EL squad cannot be changed before Jan 31.
So no Spence for our next 2 games and any new signing wont be eligible either.
So highly unlikely that Werner's loan will be cancelled (if it is even possible to cancel) before the Elfsborg game on January 30.

I think we’ve got Werner until the end of the season on £170k a week so use him!

We can't end the Werner loan. He is here for the whole season. If we send him back we still have to pay his salary. Might as well keep him to clean the players cars in the car park... although I imagine he would fuck that up.
Shocking piece of biz! Whoever sanctioned him coming back and then agreed to one year at full wages with no break clause really should be fired. Surely if they knew they were gonna get oddjob and the young Korean then wdf did go in so early with turbo? It really is staggering piece of biz even by our standards. Basically we have just pissed away £8M on his wages this year for nothing. That could have been used to offset the ticket price increases and concession tickets.

There is so much pressure on this guy. Lets be realistic... he is more likely to be Jonathan Blondel than Son Heung-min. Just bear that in mind when the inevitable happens. He is a commercial business development purchase and we would do well to remember that.

He comes from K League which is of a similar standing as Swedish League, which 18 year old Bergvall came from.

Yang was young player of the season in K League, played pretty much all the games for his club and an excellent record of goals and assists. Note that last summer Spurs signed two other top youngsters in Gray and Bergval, and Yang is a similar profile

So its highly likely that its expected that Yang will be of a similar footballing standard to Bergvall - Swedish league and K League being of a similar standard.

Any commercial benefits are great, but they are additional to the signing of a top young prospect (see multiple posts earlier in this thread showing he's rated highly versus other top youngsters in the world for many footbaling attributes/skills.

No loan fee.

Typical loan fee for a high wage player is a few million pounds

12 goals and 6 assists in K League in his first season playing - top scorer in K League scored 3 goals more.

So in addition to being young player of the year, he was one of the highest scorers in that league

We need Spence in for the EL squad. PL league finish is effed already anyways so may as well formally end the Werner loan and spend the rest of the season developing Odobert, Moore and Yang, alongside Son, Kulu and Johnson. Son to sub at ST while Richarlison rehabs with a hope to selling him in the summer. Plenty of minutes if we are just brave enough to develop our youth.
We can’t end the loan without having to pay the wages. Part of the agreement apparently. We’re stuck till the end of the season

Someone should ask Ange what the reasoning was in getting his loan deal done so early without looking at other players. What did they see in his 6 months and previous few years to justify keeping him. RB don’t want him at all should have been the red flag. Sacking offence!
The answer is quite obvious: he said "yes" because they weren't going to pay 70 million for a first team winger as well as the Odobert youth punt - so Werner as a third choice LW seemed better than nothing at all.

The cynic in me see this a commercial deal but of course I hope he comes good .

There will be photos of him and Sonny no doubt to get the commercial ball rolling
"Thus far, the only new player who could be available is Yang Min-hyeok, the Korean teenager whose arrival has increased the number of south-east Asian visitors waiting for autographs and selfies outside the Hotspur Park training ground."

John Brewin

No pressure on this lad. I wouldn't call him kid. Because it takes balls to travel half the world at 18 to live and work in a culture totally different from his home.

Anyway, no pressure.

5 minutes into his debut: *FFS cross the ball early Yang*
