Number 1 reason I think this gets done and nobody backs forest in the argument......

They've actively been trying to get him to sign a new deal and the main reason was to remove that clause.

They knew they were exposed. They knew it and they've desperately tried to stop it before it happened.

The kid was smart enough to turn down the money knowing what would happen.

i'm extremely biased but i really can't get passed the idea that what makes this different from every other deal of this nature is our fat cunt former manager (fcfm) palling around with the owner who suddenly has a trump card that nixes the deal. if we were told of this release clause while fcfm was still here and he knows details of the reveal, it could be the very thing that nukes it unlike every other minimum release clause transaction.

They should bite our hands off for 60 mil with 2 years left on his contract, especially since he won't sign an extension. Think we'd probably take 60 mil pounds (not euro) for romero.

We'd be playing into their hands moving on but I don't know, you add another 20/25 mil to that 60 we were ready to spend and you could get someone who would elevate the side

I don't understand how anyone can conclude from what has been reported that Marinakis is going to "come to his senses" and back down.
But I don't understand how you are concluding that Marinakis has any role in this, other than impotent blowhard. It's all on MGW. And he's said publicly he wants to come to Tottenham, wants a new challenge, etc., and just would prefer to leave Forest amicably.

We met the release clause. We bid 60mil. It's a reasonable opening bid for the player, there's no reason to assume we had to know about it beforehand. How would they prove that? I'm thinking we and MGW's team are taking the time to get their legal ducks in a row, and then will end this.

Unless I'm missing something here.

I can’t see in any way shape or form Ange telling Marinakis anything, as it is very unlikely he would have known it anyway (were we even looking at MGW when Ange was here ?)

Much more likely CAA Base would have access to MGWs contract through their sister company and advised us accordingly.

Correct.

Well, Forest can, at the very least, deny him that amicability.

It's crazy that he's training at a club that has violated his contract. This is not a garden variety transfer dispute, I think that's where people are losing the thread here.

If Forest didn't pay his wages, he would not be at the training ground.

Levy won't be held to ransom here and I don't blame him.
He might have been daft though.

If we’ve:

A) Approached the player without permission; and
B) Submitted a suspiciously exact amount that coincidentally aligns perfectly with a non-disclosed release clause

Then Forest are going to bite. Skipping the niceties to try and create pressure can backfire. And this fat Greek prick seems like the sort to cut his nose off to spite his face.

I still think it will get done, but they’ll extract a little more money.

Something to think about though.

Since we did the legal thing and put the 60mil offer to activate the release clause, surely, they cannot sell him to another club for the same amount or less. We were the ones who activated the release clause and unless the player himself does not want to play for us, they must sell him to us then, not any other club offering what we offer.

Nobody knows!
Literally nobody. Don't even think Forest do.

he could easily reveal specifics that are outside the agreement. everyone gets this kind of info through back channels that would never be revealed until someone on the inside or with inside info has an axe to grind and does it. fat fuck aussie cunt hates us. never forget that and seeing him grinning like the cheshire cat with the drug smuggler is very suspect at this point
