Sounds like he badly wants to get out and come to us. They legally are bound to release him, they can delay but unless they can change his mind he will come to us.

As for him training, well MGW is legally bound to train which he is doing, him training is just him being professional something his current fat owner isn’t.

If we have tapped him up then Levy is also unprofessional. Thats the way football works these days.

The owner has thrown his toys out his pram. Welcome to the premier league! The land of sharks. End of the day apparently Gibbs-White has told them he wants to leave and not renewing his contract. He wants to come to the bright lights of London and not stay in a city where they talk about robin hood all the time. Must get boring after

Nottingham Forest, hells teeth the Forest is even sharing the same name as one of our idiotic ex managers. Sums them up.

What I don't get, is Arse are currently negotiating with Palace for a deal UNDER Eze's £68m release clause ...
Firstly, What's the point of a release clause if you can negotiate under it...
And also, everyone KNOWS the release clause... It's no big Whoo-haaa secret!

THE POEMS ARE BACK!

Marinakis’s Meltdown

Marinakis weeps, Spurs got White cheap,
Fuming in Forest’s halls, no peace, no sleep.
He shouts at the squad, “Snitches get stitches!”
Suspects a mole, brewing dark glitches.

Levy just laughs, can’t hide his grin,
Watching the tantrum, waiting to win.
“Give more money!” Marinakis cries,
But Levy just wags his finger — wise.

Wordsworth would be so jealous.

Who would benefit from having a specified fee that a player could not be sold for less than??

The more I think about this the more stupid it is.

When we fucked up with Cordoso’s contract and allowed a loophole so Real Betis didn’t have to pay for their percentage of the sale relating to the Lo Celso transfer we recognised it was our doing. Levy didn’t throw a strop demanding legal action from not getting the contract right.

Forest put a clause in, it’s their doing not ours. The clause is activated and their owner is basically throwing his toys out the pram because he clearly doesn’t like the clause but it is a legal clause.
I'm starting to believe that he genuinely didn't know that there was a clause in the contract. That he either forgot or didn't read it through well enough when it was signed.

Because they're not mandatory in England the terms will be different from player to player based on what they negotiated when signing.
Which is why it's utterly pointless so many people on here talking like they know the deal.
They don't.

They've been offering him that for the last year and he's kept rejecting it. Now that he's agreed personal terms with Spurs and made it clear he wants to leave forest, you think he might sign a new deal with them? Can't see it mate.

Only if there is no way out of Forest......this does happen sometimes, players who don't get the move they want end up signing a new contract.

Under no circumstances should we "walk away" from the deal. For one he's a player that will absolutely improve us and also walking away admits defeat. You can never let a fucking imbecile temper tantrum throwing bully think he's won because they will simply adopt the same hissy fit tactics again and again.

If we haven't done anything wrong we see this out.

Walking away is exactly what Marinakis wants. Don’t give him what he wants.

Bullies never prosper

With respect, that's a pretty comical misunderstanding of what the release clause is for.

If Palace get an offer for at least £68m and Eze wants to go, the clause means they have to accept it. However that doesn't stop them selling him for less if they choose to. Sometimes a club needs money, sometimes a player loses form or doesn't hit the heights expected, there are many reasons why a club might include a release clause, but then later be happy to do a deal well below it rather than not do a deal at all.

It's tainted because expectations of his impact/abilities have been overhyped by this stupid kerfuffle. I thought I'd explained that?
You did in a subsequent post. I still think this would have been the case even if the transfer was straightforward. People are going to moan one way or another when you spend over £50m for a player regardless of how smooth or bumpy the transfer was.
