I don't think Palace will accept less than the release clause but Woolwich will blackmail them into at least considering it. Woolwich already know Eze only wants them, and Palace are aware of this, so Woolwich are in no rush to trigger it. They'll pretend they've no interest in triggering it until the season starts which is the worst case scenario for Palace. So they'll low-ball them with offers in the meantime effectively blackmailing Palace into an early sale on the cheap to avoid them triggering it in late august.With respect, that's a pretty comical misunderstanding of what the release clause is for.
If Palace get an offer for at least £68m and Eze wants to go, the clause means they have to accept it. However that doesn't stop them selling him for less if they choose to. Sometimes a club needs money, sometimes a player loses form or doesn't hit the heights expected, there are many reasons why a club might include a release clause, but then later be happy to do a deal well below it rather than not do a deal at all.
